As you know Fintan, I also plan to stay over Friday night. If rooms are hard to find, then I don't mind sharing with someone but I gotta warm you of my gas problem which is just savage after a feed of Guinness :o :) :D

So basically we need a b&b with a garden shed for Peter. LOL

Hi all,

I know that the main purpose of the outing (aside from a social get together) is shooting seascapes, however I was wondering if anyone is interest in getting some shots of remains of the Bunmahon Copper mine as it seems to be on a headland with some dramatic cliffs in the background (http://www.copper-coast.com/copper/web/Display/article/28/2/;jsessionid=8425C6E56836EF1DB252A0C32D280E78)

So it could make a nice bit of foreground interest. I have emailed somebody associated with the above website to see if he can give us any local advice and will let you know when I get a reply.

Here are a few sites with photographs/information about the mines:

I'd love to shoot the mines, esp. abandoned buildings and such.

I don't mind ye deviating from the seascapes thing, if conditions are right, I'll be sticking with my plan and catch y'all later. No problem.

Lets all try and stay in the same B&B if possible. On the Friday night we can have a look at a map and get an idea of how close each place of interest is. That will give us an idea of what we can fit it in.

That sounds like a good plan, we can either go over the map/plan in the B&B or in a Pub:)

I certainly don't want to throw a spanner in the works and only suggested the mines if it can be slotted in as part of the day but without detracting for the main theme of the outing.

There's no theme David, we're just heading for the same area and splitting up is no problem at all. I've done a lot of portrait stuff recently and just fancy some seascapes before I get stuck in a rut.

I'll get out some of my material about Waterford and see if I can come up with some suggestions for when we get together. I'm drawn to the mine as myself and Síle did some shooting around another defunct copper mine in Wicklow and I found it amazing, great for both colour and B+W. The colour was especially good in good sunlight.

I wonder if it's a bit small, only 3 rooms, 2 Double & 1 single. How about this one it's in Dungarvan, not sure how many rooms it has:

Hey Peter, you were admiring Les Mcleans 'Roughting Linn' and I think you will find something similar at Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains. Get your wee sat nav out :D:D

Mountainview looks good. Just wondering if the other one might be a bit of a walk to the pub (or rather a bit of a walk HOME from the pub after a few pints!)?

I'm looking forward to a Mamiya 7 stand-off with Andrew :(

But I'm going to be up against it as he can draw a camera in each hand

A note to who ever is booking the B&B. Put my room as far away from Fintan's as possible as I put him through enough last weekend. ;)
