Hi apugger colleagues,

I'm working on a solo exhibition in April 2008 and need a title for the exhibition. I'd like to call on my APUG friends to please help me name the exhibition.

Genre: Portraits and Environmental Portraiture
Medium: Black & White Photography
Sample of my work: http://www.nicoleboenigmcgrade.com

Type of work displayed: Portraits predominantly of Australian children, lifestyle; also the older community; thoughtful; quirky; strength; vunerable; honest; soulful...
Pretty much an array of emotions.

I hope to bring some of this work to the Foto 3 conference in Colorado in 2008.

If you have any ideas.... I'd love to hear them. I'll keep you posted with the final choice.

Nicole,
OK, a few ideas off the top of my head based on the weight of the subject matter:
"Spare the Rod" (and spoil the child!)
"Small Wisdoms"
"Patience" (an essential quality to have when dealing with children)
"Children of the Light" (a bit of an obvious photographic connection but also perhaps to the light they may shine etc.)
"Now Hear This" (a reference to giving children a voice)
"Seen and Heard" (as above and a contradiction of the children should be seen and not heard maxim)
"The Least of These" (a biblical reference referring to what Jesus said about the importance of children)
"Past and Futures" (incorporates the older community)

Good luck with this. Not an easy job, trying to distill an exhibition into a few pithy words which captures your feeling and vision. I'm sure you'll come up with your own fine title eventually!

How 'bout:

"Generations"
"A Place at the Table"
"All of Us"
"Friends and Neighbors"

It's not easy sometimes. You don't want to sound smarmy or cheesy, but....

Good luck.

I'd just leave it Soul, leave a bit of ambiguity and have the viewers guessing.

Maybe Souls

Well on you site you say "My lifetime goal is to give a voice to those
who cannot be heard - the child. - Nicole Boenig McGrade"

So how about "Silent Voices"

or more predicatably "We come from a land down under"

Thank you everyone for your help which provided much food for thought!!

The exhibition has now been named... "Love. Laughter. Life." and will run as a part of the wonderful Foto Freo ( http://www.fotofreo.com ) event in Perth Western Australia between the 5th April to 4th May.

I'm very proud to say that master photographer/printer Les McLean will be printing the exhibition prints for me, some of which I'll be bringing to the Foto-3 conference in Colorado in June 2008. I hope to have the opportunity to meet you there.
