View Full Version : Get Together in Toronto? gr82bart 11-05-2007, 07:13 PM Hi Folks,
So for the US Thanksgiving week, I will be in Toronto visiting my family and 'old' friends. I know just about everyone will be working and it will feel like I will be playing hooky or something, so I figured an after work event.
So here's a thought.
Let's meet after work - say 6pm on Tuesday, November 20 at my friend's cafe / restaurant Grapefruit Moon - http://www.grapefruitmoon.ca We can have some drinks, eat good food, share some pics and if anyone wants to do some night shooting, we can do that too.
Whadayasay? :D
Regards, Art. Timothy 11-05-2007, 08:35 PM Great idea, Art. Count me in. billschwab 11-05-2007, 08:46 PM Will be at Bob Carnie's the next day. Maybe I can make it a day earlier? Not sure as it is a tight week. I'll keep tabs on the thread.
Bill gr82bart 11-05-2007, 08:58 PM Its a flexible week Bill, so we can move it if we need too. No worries. Heck, I can even do multiple nights! As long as there's beer involved, eh? LOL
Regards, Art. Dinesh 11-05-2007, 09:02 PM You had me at beer dammit, you had me at beer! Bob Carnie 11-06-2007, 07:33 AM Art
I am glad your scheduale opened up earlier, Wed we are having an open house and gallery show at Elevator , So you have to drop by and Tues sounds good to me at your proposed location , I will bring the Viking and others. Les will be here as well and I hope he has controlled that nasty bladder problem when we go out.
BTW is there any way we can give Dinesh the wrong location and show up somewhere else????
Bob billschwab 11-06-2007, 09:28 AM Les will be here as well and I hope he has controlled that nasty bladder problem when we go out.Yeah... this time I'm bringing a towel!

If you are driving up there, you will probably go through Rochester on the way. Maybe we could plan something for our Rochester members. OTOH, if you are flying......
PE gr82bart 11-06-2007, 01:28 PM Ron,
I'll be flying ... It's like a 12 hour drive to Toronto so I'm prone to flying. Maybe next summer? I've always wanted to visit Kodak and Eastman House. I was going to say to you - why not come up to Toronto, but you've answered that already. Maybe what we need next spring is a 'middle' NY state get together.

Ron, perhaps a little road trip up to the Elevator open house is in order. Bob may appear to be "a creepy troll-like guy in an orange jumpsuit", but he does run a first class facility. Just keep your hands and face away from his mouth and everything will be OK.
Jesper Sørensen's images are truly outstanding. I think it is safe to say, that they will give you a glimpse into a society that, to date, hasn't been recorded to this extent. Photo Engineer 11-06-2007, 02:01 PM Dinesh;
I'm a creepy old guy, so maybe Bob and I would get along.
Seriously though, since the Ferry died, it is a 6 hour jaunt to Toronto for us. It is a bit of a stretch, unless I take the train, and my passport just died. So, I have to get a new one. I have not been doing any EK travel and I forgot to renew it.
Why doesn't Canada unite with the US. :D
I know, I know, just kidding.

And give up our "strong" Canadian dollar? No way! :p gr82bart 11-12-2007, 10:06 AM Hi Folks,
Looks like the cafe is booked for a private party on Tuesday, let's make it Thursday, November 22. Same time - 6pm. Same place - Grapefruit Moon.
Sign up here if you're going to show so I can tell Sandy how many seats to reserve and how much hors d'œuvre to get.
Thanks, Art. Bob Carnie 11-12-2007, 01:42 PM Art , I will be bringing Les, Jesper ,Laura and possibly a few more, Sandy does not get into town until Fri.

Thanks, Art. Timothy 11-12-2007, 01:51 PM I will be there. I am looking forward to it. Should I bring some prints ??
Are others going to bring a few prints ?? Brian Gatien 11-12-2007, 04:49 PM Darn. I was working on getting things resolved so that I could drive down from Sudbury to make the 20th. I am committed to a dinner Thursday night out of which I cannot get. Have a gr8 time.
Brian gr82bart 11-20-2007, 01:24 PM Bumping this thread and also confirming people for this Thursday. Let's see, we have ...
Timothy
Bob
Laura
Les
Jesper
Dinesh ?
Mike Wilde ?
Bill Schwab ?
Anyone else? I know there are many GTA folks around - Uncle Bill, Rob Skeoch (sp?), etc ...
I'll be bringing my newly made ambrotypes. Nothing special, but I'm addicted to the process now. I think I'll also bring what I have from the postcard exchange and the toy camera exchange.
Folks can bring prints to show if they want.
I have reserved 10 places so far and ordered appetizers for everyone. People are on their own for drinks. Les and Bob would bankrupt me if drinks were on my tab! :D
Anyway 6pm or thereabouts at Grapefruit Moon on Bathurst just south of DuPont. See you all there!
Regards, Art. Bob Carnie 11-20-2007, 02:59 PM Art I hope you are going to be at our open house tommorow night???
Les spills more than he can drink btw. thebanana 11-20-2007, 03:55 PM Slightly off topic, but my condolences on the collapse of the Argo's. Any of you big city boys taking bets on the Grey Cup? Bob Carnie 11-20-2007, 03:56 PM I would only bet on the NFL Dinesh 11-20-2007, 04:05 PM Any of you big city boys taking bets on the Grey Cup?
What is that? :p thebanana 11-20-2007, 04:25 PM Unlike some football leagues where the team has FOUR attempts to make a 10 yard gain, this is the real deal. I don't blame you for ridiculing your home team, but this weekend will be an eye opener for you non-believers. Too bad you have to play indoors down there though.:D |
