Paula and I are making good progress. Still more testing to be done, however. Because of our travel schedule, we may not be able to do the next round of testing until late January. It is possible that we could have paper by summer or, because of our travel schedule, by early fall.
Michael A. Smith Buster6X6 11-27-2007, 09:45 PM Good news Michael, thanks for the update.
Cheers Greg jgjbowen 11-27-2007, 10:30 PM Keeping the old fingers crossed on this one. Thanks for keeping us informed!
John Ian Leake 11-28-2007, 04:14 AM Yes, this is definitely good news. (And I hope Photo Paris went well.) photo8x10 11-28-2007, 05:10 AM Good News, thanks for your update, my finger are always crossed!!!! :-)
Stefano John Bartley 11-28-2007, 03:34 PM I'm also waiting and will continue to Michael. When it arrives I'll still be on the buyers list.
cheers and thank you !! Jim Fitzgerald 11-28-2007, 09:42 PM All good things come in time. Keeping the faith.
Jim Thomas Bertilsson 11-29-2007, 01:12 AM Woo-Hoo! That is truly exciting news. Although I don't have the financial means to commit to buying any up-front to help with bringing this paper forth, I wish I did. The little experience I have with Azo and Velox has shown me a whole other world of possibilities in printing b&w, and if this new paper is anything like the Kodak papers I will be a very happy customer in the future!
- Thomas noseoil 11-29-2007, 10:10 PM michael, have you tried printing on the slavich single weight paper yet? Michael A. Smith 11-30-2007, 04:56 PM No, I have not tried Slavich. I did see someone's prints on it--someone who can make beautiful prints--and hte prints on Slavich, from the same negatives as his good prints, were terrible. So it seemed there was no need to try it.
Michael Pragmatist 12-04-2007, 04:20 PM Looking forward to the year that this holy grail of contact paper comes available ;) pkrentz 12-04-2007, 06:28 PM Do any of you people get the feeling your being taken for a ride?:munch: Phong 12-04-2007, 06:45 PM Do any of you people get the feeling your being taken for a ride?:munch:
Not me. What ride is there when Michael is not asking for any money until the paper is available ? He stands to lose much more in terms of money, effort, reputation if the project fails than any of us. I am very happy to be on the sideline cheering Michael on, and waiting for the day when the Lodima paper is available. I will be first in line to send in my order, along with countless others. :-) Chazzy 12-04-2007, 07:00 PM Do any of you people get the feeling your being taken for a ride?:munch:
Not at all. I'm glad that the paper is being carefully perfected, even though that takes time, and I plan to order some when it is finally available. c6h6o3 12-04-2007, 11:29 PM Not at all. like a good meal, good things take time ... PaulH 12-05-2007, 05:33 PM Centennial POP, and when I have to the last of my Azo.
I have not had any luck with Kentona; too contrasty for my negatives. I also had a bunch of it turn a nasty yellowish brown last time I used it. michael9793 12-11-2007, 08:54 AM I am using Oriental seagull with Ansco 130. I also use Azo F2 (for my 8x20's)with different dilutions of Ansco 130. Stock usually makes the print too contrasty so I dilute to get the contrast to what I want. I'm also Pd/Pt printing again and find the paper problem exist there too. So I have plenty of avenues to go till Michael can work things out. Remember he has to make a living too. So taking time for this paper has to take a back seat sometimes.
Michael Andersen Thomas Bertilsson 12-12-2007, 10:35 PM Yellow happened to me too, it was truly disheartening after a lot of darkroom work. You can dilute your developer to achieve a lower contrast in the paper, however, or use water bath. I use Ansco-130 at 1+2 for normal contrast and 1+3 for lower contrast and slightly warmer. Works well.

Centennial POP, and when I have to the last of my Azo.

I also had a bunch of it turn a nasty yellowish brown last time I used it. 500+500+500+500+500=2500 sheets of Azo left, a special project or save for later, eBay or waste off? 2500 sheets would be equal to how many 4x5 or 5x7 contact prints? What about wallet size? It would be a good way to waste off the Amidol that I have been hoarding too.
Good luck Michael with the new paper.

Ebay - take the money, put it in the bank, and retire early. Michael Kadillak 12-14-2007, 10:14 AM So I have plenty of avenues to go till Michael can work things out. Remember he has to make a living too. So taking time for this paper has to take a back seat sometimes.

I can tell you from direct first hand experience that Michael always finds time to keep advancing Project Lomida concurrent with his regular work load. Technological advances such as mobile phones and portable computers assisgn greatly in this regard wherever their travels may take them.
It is a very complex logistically challenging endevor, but I like his chances.
Cheers! |
