hi
i use a pen ft pretty often
and i have a leica 35mm suma yadda yadda lens
(screwmount - without the goggles ) that i sometimes
use with my m3 ...
does anyone know the pen ft camera well enough
to tell me if there is an adapter i can get to mount
the leica lens onto the ft?
or is this something that can't be done.
thanks in advance!

Have you measured the register (distance from lens flange to film) of each camera? That would at least tell you if it is physically possible to mount the Summicron on the FT. I would be surprised if you can find a ready-made adapter, but getting one made would not cost the earth (about £80 in the UK from SRB-Griturn Ltd.).

David
PS: As a rough guide, here's a Nikon lens to Pen body adapter:

It looks much thinner than my Novoflex Nikon to Leica thread adapter, so my guess is you can't mate a Leica lens and Pen body and get infinity focus.

IIRC, such an adapter was available. Since the back focus of the Leica screw mount (and other lenses) is greater than the back focus of the Pen FT, there is plenty of room for an adapter and to still allow the lenses to be brought to the proper plane of focus. Again, IIRC, Exakta lens adapters were also available for the Pen FT.

Um, no one's infallible but W-J Markerink's site http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/mounts.htm give 28.80 mm register for LTM and 28.95 for Pen F. If this is correct, John, you probably can't use your yada yada on your FT.

According to CameraQuest.com
Lastly, also made was a Leica 39mm adapter, but this was good for close-ups only.
