Hi, just bought a polaroid back for my Holga - any idea on the www where I can find Black and white film as my local retailer just laughed me out of his store, cheers Andy

The polaroid film that was used in the older backs is no longer being produced (I forget the exact number, but it might have been type 54). The prints were quite small from this film. Freestyle sells a new polaroid back for Holgas that takes type 669 film which is still widely available. You'll need to determine which back you have, old or new.

The original Holgaroid backs took the 80 series, which has discontinued last year. Polaroid said:

"Please be advised that Polaroid will be discontinuing 8[x] film within the last 3 months of 2006 due to the phasing out of components used in the production of this film."

You can still get some fresh limited-edition (or last-run) type 80 film from Lord of the Lens (http://www.lordofthelens.net/servlet/Categories?category=%3E+Polaroid+Film+%28other%29) .

If you bought the new Polaroid back, it will take either type 80 or 66x film (or Fuji equivalents) - the 66x film is still in production with the exception of 665, and is available from some camera (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=itemlist&cat1=Film%20%26%20Darkroom&cat2=Film&cat3=Instant%20Film%20%26%20Accessories) stores (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/shop/351/Polaroid_Instant_Film_Instant_Peel_Apart_Pack_Film .html) if you look around and from Polaroid directly (http://www.polaroid.com) (make sure you DO NOT get the 4" x 5" kind - type 50 in Polaroid lingo but a little confusing from Fuji - that's for a different class of Polaroid back).

(By coincidence I was looking into this back the other day myself. I've also bought a Polaroid 250, which takes the 66x film, so I've looked into availability of that, too :) )

Yes, the 665 pos/neg was discontinued. Apparently the 4x5 version, 55, is still being made (pricey, though).

Yes, www.unsaleable.com - they're in Austria. They do all types of Polaroid and some Fujifilm Instax film. They do Polaroid Type 88.

Mathers of Lancashire (www.mathersoflancashire.co.uk) do packfilm by Fujifilm, FP100C for sure, perhaps others. I know that fits the Polaroid 250.
