View Full Version : Greetings from Santee, California SilkAngel 01-02-2008, 05:28 PM I joined today. I've looked a several forums but this forum is specific to film. That is so rare today. Everyone wants to go digital.
Santee is about 20 miles east of San Diego. It is a great little community. I retired two years ago just two weeks after I turned 55. I wanted to pursue other interests while I was still young enough to enjoy. There never seems to be enough time when you have to work full time. I am truly enjoying to time I spend now.
I am taking Photography at the local Community college. I have always enjoyed Black and White photography. I wanted to learn how to develop and print my own pictures. There is such a sense of accomplishment when you walk out of the darkroom with a picture that you created with only the tools available in the darkroom.
My final porfolio for Photo II was a series on Natural Forms. It was done in my home studio. I enjoy studio work. I am having a little trouble uploading my pictures. When that issue is resolved, I will upload my portfolio.
Looking forward to exchanging ideas with all of you. I'm at Grossmont also, but taking Russian. Take advantage of MoPA's offerings. Great stuff there. sjperry 01-04-2008, 12:40 AM Hi, welcome to the group. I am from Arcadia, CA, which is just East of Pasadena and about 120 mi. or so North of you. I am also an early retiree but also run a small business. I restore old telephones and radios (occasionally old Rolleiflex's and other cameras as well). Most of my sales are on ebay, and I always use film for the photos. In fact most of the time I use a Rollei 2.8E (1956-59), frequently with the Rollekin adapter which allows me to shoot 35mm film (faster and cheaper processing). I think I have less spare time after retirement than before!

I'm originally from Escondido, now living in San Antonio. Some people from Santee just moved into our hood - small world. Enjoy your photo classes, I took every one offered during my years at UCSD and loved them. I miss being in that environment. anaanda 01-22-2008, 02:25 AM welcome from nearby San Diego!
