View Full Version : Hello from Northern NJ paladin1420 01-02-2008, 10:03 PM Greetings to all.
I've been poking around APUG for a few months now and thought I should finally say Hi.
I found my way back to film this spring when I came across my old SLR while looking for something else in the attic. I cranked the advance lever while playing with it and wouldn't you know there was film in it! Of course, I had to finish the roll. I ended up with a roll with the beginning in the spring of 2001 and ending in the spring of 2007. It was TMax so the old was just as good as the new. There have been a bunch of rolls since then and I'm having a ball with my new (old) toys.
I'm really enjoying the content and community here. I've got a bunch of questions and if I don't find the answers through forum searches, stand by to hear more from me.
Regards,
Paladin Drew B. 01-02-2008, 10:07 PM Welcome back...! Ya...some things don't change much, such as b&w film. It won't be long before you move up to LF. paladin1420 01-02-2008, 10:12 PM Welcome back...! Ya...some things don't change much, such as b&w film. It won't be long before you move up to LF.
A friend just loaned me a 4x5 Toyo, which I'm afraid to take out of the case right now. There will be a bunch of questions when I do. Right now I'm still trying to get my head around 35mm.

It's an old Argus STL-1000 from 1972-1973. All manual, except for a built in light meter. It takes pentax screw mount lenses. paladin1420 01-03-2008, 08:53 PM It's great to hear from so many Jersey folks. Good to know I have neighbors.
Do any of you know if there is a decent photo store on this side of the river?
Paladin papagene 01-03-2008, 09:41 PM Paladin - welcome from western Massachusetts.

How far North in NJ do you reside? paladin1420 01-03-2008, 10:05 PM I'm just across the NY border in the Suffern area.
How far North in NJ do you reside?
Not far from the GW bridge, probably 30-40 minutes from Suffern. copake_ham 01-05-2008, 12:08 AM Welcome to APUG from across Da' River in NYC. paladin1420 01-05-2008, 12:43 PM Welcome to APUG from across Da' River in NYC.
I used to live across Da' River, but I don't get back there as often as I'd like to. Welcome from a bit farther up the line than Suffern...Monroe (where the world seems to come to shop at Woodbury Common). Too bad there's no photography outlet store there :( For that matter, is there a photography outlet anywhere?? snallan 01-06-2008, 10:48 AM Hi Paladin, welcome from the UK. |
