Hi everyone. I'm a reporter/photographer shooting digital on the job and film in my leisure time. I live far enough away from Toronto that people have never heard of my town:confused:
I am just getting into rangefinders; and, even after using digital for several years, have really missed the 'feel' of film photography. I don't have a darkroom and can't afford a Leica, but am really looking forward to what I can learn here. I cover the police/fire beat and I'll bet I could get some awesome photos with an RF; it's much more discreet than my big SLR!

Glad you are here. The big city has lots of amenities, but I grew up in a city of 20,000, which was plenty big enough for me. The economy wasn't there for me when I finished school, and after uni, well the 'big smoke', as the small towners used to call Toronto drew me in.

At least I work in the 'burbs, about a 2 minute drive from my home, so I do not spend hours a day driving all over.

If you have a rangefinder urge, and not the Wetzlar squillions, stoop low and find an Olympus XA on the web on that auction site or somehwere. I keep mine in my work bag that shuttles the calendar, notepad, and wallet, as well as lunch around. I use it to capture slices of life all the time.

Mary... welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts. Look for a Canon Canonet QL17, a great little 35mm rangefinder.
