Hi,

I used to live in a nice big house with two bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, and had a whole bathroom to myself, that had no windows. This was an ideal place to do paper coating and developing, but now I live in a 2 bedroom place with one very light bathroom and no real dark places, except maybe the shower.

My question is, can I safely coat my in light (ie tungsten) conditions, or do i need pitch black darkroom conditions?

Thanks for your help.

Ivan

Any of the Iron Processes (anything from Platinum/Palladium, Cyanotype, Vandyke, Argyrotype ,etc) are safe to coat and process under normal room lighting conditions. As long as you don't have a source of strong UV, such as a window with direct sunlight spilling through it, you should be fine. The Ferric Ammonium Citrate in the Argyrotype solution is only sensitive to a narrow band of ultraviolet light, and basically blind to any other wavelength.

Good luck with your printing!
