I always liked his sense of humor, and admired his knowledge of matters photographic. I went to an exhibition he had of his photographs at the Suffern library, but missed meeting him. I told him I would meet him at his next exhibition.
Goodbye, Neal. RIP. I will miss you. MattKing 01-26-2008, 08:03 PM This is so sad.

David photomc 01-26-2008, 08:54 PM I think Neal said what I'm trying (and failing) to set in words:

I miss him.
Thanks for everything Neal....RIP. glbeas 01-26-2008, 08:55 PM Sad to hear this. Do they use film in heaven?
I'll miss his comments, his personality. Do they use film in heaven?
They do now and they are all keepers.:D:D:D
see ya neal. Peter Black 01-26-2008, 09:19 PM I'm not a big signature guy, but Neal's signature was one that always hit the spot and was a philosophy that really strikes a chord as I wander through digi sites where people get seriously confused between grain and digi noise. I always thought it was a mark of the guy that the word "stupid" was left out of each sentence in his signature, but it taught me a bit of restraint! A smart signature can only be a soundbite however, whereas Neal's words were always worth reading and he was a voice of reason amongst the members here. I really hate those modern/trendy sayings, but "missing you already" seems appropriate. RIP. Lee Shively 01-26-2008, 09:20 PM When I first started coming to this site, Neal was one of the more active posters. I enjoyed his posts, his opinions and his expertise. I haven't been very active here lately and I noticed he hadn't been posting much either. I've missed him and I was thinking of him just earlier today--wondering what was going on with him. I'm saddened by this news...very sad. I'll continue to miss him. Rest in peace Neal. Sad to see you go, your wisdom and your photographs will be missed.
jan Toffle 01-26-2008, 10:10 PM I was just reading some of Neal's posts yesterday... this is so sad. Our community is one soul smaller.
I agree with Peter Black, I loved Neal's signature. Sean should put it right up there with dr bob. TheFlyingCamera 01-26-2008, 11:01 PM Neal was a tremendous positive presence on this site. He will be greatly missed. Thanks to that funky thing called the internet we'll still be able to revisit his wisdom, and he'll live on. Michel Hardy-Vallée 01-26-2008, 11:48 PM He was a talented individual, and a witty person. Just a little bit of contact with him was enough to see that.
I will remember him as a good person more than anything else. highpeak 01-27-2008, 12:27 AM My condolences to his family and friend, I always enjoy his presence here at APUG.
Alex W. Gary892 01-27-2008, 01:40 AM Neal,
Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for sharing your spirit.
Thank you for sharing your love for photography.
Now God has given you access to the ultimate workshop. This workshop will be taught by some of the most historically important photographers who have gone on before you.
You will see in a whole new way. You can wander the heavens with your camera, making images of what ever you like without being encumbered by physical limitations. You can have angels process your film and it will turn out heavenly. When you hold your negatives up to the sun, you just might see a lot of grain.
To let you in on a little secret, that is not grain; it’s all of us looking up and smiling and saying we miss you.
Gary disfromage 01-27-2008, 02:37 AM This is so sad. My condolences to Neal's family and friends.

He was a wonderful APUGer. We will miss him. Whiteymorange 01-27-2008, 08:13 AM In the wide world of the internet there are lots of places to get photo advice. It was Neal's posts, among others, that made me come here first and most often. He was decent, reasonable and always upbeat as well as knowledgeable - not an easy combination to find. His contributions will be missed and his spirit, I hope, will continue to be present in our conversations. Being new to Apug i haven't had the privilege to correspond with Neal and after viewing his post and his shots i realize his passing is such a great loss to Apug, his friends and family. Rest in peace Neal, my condolences to the Williams family.
