View Full Version : Hey, another young one on board Tomchy 01-30-2008, 09:16 PM Hey guys, I joined this board after being frustrated with all the other photography forums I've been on that offer little to no constructive criticism.
I just turned 18 years old and am currently living in St. Louis, Missouri.
My weapon of choice is a Bronica SQ-A for the most part (though I do shoot digital sometimes with my d70s). I'm looking forward to learning tons here!
Here's a link to my flickr if anyone wants to check it out.

Enjoy it, there's lots to learn - and this is the place to do it!! DWThomas 01-30-2008, 09:25 PM Welcome from a geezer and fellow SQ-A user (http://www.pbase.com/dw_thomas/sqa) in eastern Pennsylvania.
DaveT papagene 01-30-2008, 09:26 PM Welcome from western Massachusetts, and yes I am an old fart too!
gene MurrayMinchin 01-30-2008, 09:30 PM Hi there from a middle aged (but still immature) 'old fart' in training on BC's north coast :)
Murray copake_ham 01-30-2008, 09:38 PM Aw jeez, having had some Yankee Bean Soup with lunch today - I can definitely say that I'm NOT an old fart! I'm just an old farter making new gas! :D
Welcome to APUG - I think.
Hey, could someone please open the window - it's getting kind of "nasty" in here! :o Drew B. 01-30-2008, 09:38 PM how about welcome from an old crap head? brian steinberger 01-30-2008, 09:43 PM Welcome from a fellow youngin'! Atleast I like to think I'm still young. 25 is not too bad is it? I used to use a Bronica SQ-A, love the square format. Now I'm armed with a Mamiya 6. Anyway, yes, this is a great site! Anything you want to know can be answered by all the kind and very knowledgable fellow photographers here. Looking forward to seeing your work!
Brian rusty71 01-30-2008, 09:45 PM Welcome from a photographer in your neck of the woods-or caves. Nice work on your Flickr account.
Few people realize that the best places in Missouri are underground. Christopher Walrath 01-30-2008, 10:18 PM Hey, Tomchy. Welcome to the group from Delaware. I shoot MF as well and you will get more constructive criticism here than you bargained for. Be ready to grow from it. Welcome aboard, matey. Tomchy 01-30-2008, 10:21 PM Thanks for the warm (and rancid) welcome everyone!
Rusty, good to see some fellow St. Louians (?) on here. I'm thinking of doing a whole series on the caves that can be found all around Missouri. Just need to find them! I shot lots of those "one finger" salutes in my younger days. Does that make me a "digital pioneer"?:D
Years later, I met a high school friend, of whom I had taken a close up shot of his extended middle finger. The lighting was dramatic, the neg came out perfect and I made a beautiful print. My friend said later that he thought that the print looked like it had been made by Ansel Adams.:o
