My first enlarger is an omega D2. I bought the nikkor 50/2.8 for it and was about to start printing.
Then somebody on craigslist was giving away durst M600. Such a nice little machine it is, especially considering that I'm printing out of my bathroom. :p
It has a componar 50/4.5.
Is this an acceptable lens? How many elements does it have?
I like the small size of the Durst and the glass negative carrier.
If the componar is bad, please suggest a good 35mm lens in the leica thread.
Or should I replace the lensboard to SIXTUB 39mm and mount the nikkor into the Durst?

Your lens is a good one it has 4 elements. The componon is a better lens with 6 elements also more money. I have a durst M601 that came with a 50 componar, I used it for years with no problem.

Haha
It's my luck. I get a perfectly fine enlarger with a lens for free from a stranger the day my 50$ nikkor arrives.

Just use it closed down to 1-2 stops from the last one and you'll have a lens as sharp as you can get. This applies, however, to almost every enlarger lens.

Do whatever you have to do to use the Nikkor. Here are the camera magazine test results for the two lenses:
f/stop/center/edge Componar 4.5/30/25;5.6/35/35;8/40/35;11/30/25;16/20/15 economy, not for critical use
f/stop/center/edge EL-Nikkor 2.8/40/25;4/45/40;5.6/80/65;8/60/45;11/40/30;16/25/20 best tested

Are those lines per mm?
I am thinking it mightbe easier to get a better lens in the leica mount for durst.
Any recommendations?
Also the nikkor itself is not the newest one. It's the one without the illuminated f-stops.

The Nikkor is a Leica mount & Without spending a LOT of money you're not going to get much better.
The Componar was generally a kit lens and not as good as the Componon ar Nikkor.
Use the Nikkor on the Durst & you have a nice compact enlarger. Use it on the D2 for gross enlargements.

Nikkor is 39mm thread. Componar is 25.
My bad, I thought componar was in the leica's mount.
What's I'm asking is that what's a good lens in the 25mm mount?

Yes, those are line pairs/mm and that is the old EL-Nikkor.
