I've managed to pretty badly maul a roll of film by loading it onto a crappy reel, tearing it in half and putting a few minor marks on a few frames. Most of the shots are useable because I managed to get the film onto another reel in two parts. There are 2 small specks scraped off the eumulsion in the sky area of what is otherwise a nice photo. So basically the frame I want to print is fine apart from 2 very small black specks where the light is coming through. What's the best way of eliminating these? Cheers.

Opaque the specks on the film and spot the white spots on the print.

I have some opaquing material from Veronica Cass that I've been using lately, but you can't get that anymore. I think you can still get Crocien Scarlet from Kodak for this purpose. I suspect there are other opaquing materials you can dig up wherever you can find retouching supplies.

For fine work and spotting I like Richeson Miniature Series brushes.

you could also print them as is, then take some iodine and spot out the black spots. re-fix and spot with traditional spotting dyes.

Where would I buy the kodak stuff? I have lots of small brushes about from painting miniatures. I'm looking at getting the tetanol spotting pens but the first way sounds alot easier rather than bleaching and refixing.

B&H used to sell it. I don't know if they still do, but just glancing at their website, I found a few kinds of opaquing dyes for retouching. Try someplace like Silverprint to see if you can find it in the UK.

Artists watercolour or designers gouache will work very well for spotting. Lamp Black is more opaque than Ivory Black. Crocein scarlet is no longer available from Kodak so try eBay as suggested.
