Anyone have calibration numbers for Ilford Multigrade IV paper using a Durst Multigraph head? Many thanks in advance! Ed.

Thanks greatly, but I remember reading that there's a big difference in emulsion between Multigrade IV FB and RC papers. Are the values for the Fiberbased paper, or the Resin Coated? For that matter - is there a difference? Best - Ed

I am not sure what to do now. Stick with my system or adapt (...) Ralph tested it extremely well, I guess.

I did a cursory analysis on the RC vs. FB data presented and came up with the following....
Ralph's data for Fiber based paper is pretty well exactly the same as Durst's if you subtract 30 filtration units. My guess is that the data is exactly the same, but Durst does some internal math to make up the difference (possibly through the D-Comp value. In any case, the slope of both data sets is close to parallel for all values except 00 and Magenta 5.0, where Durst simply puts in it's max values.
As such, subtracting something similar from Ralph's RC data, we get:

Grade , Yellow , Magenta
0 , 63 , 0
.5 , 44 , 0
1 , 26 , 0
1.5, 12 , 0
2 , 1 , 0
2.5, 0 , 6
3 , 0 , 23
3.5 , 0 , 35
4 , 0 , 48
4.5 , 0 , 63
5 , 0 , 170

This would be a good place to start to come up with realistic values for RC.

Hm. I just looked the manual at ilfordphoto.com and will reupload my list. Because I did my list after the manual (http://www.ilfordphoto.com/Webfiles/2006130201152306.pdf) for Ilford Fiber paper.

I do not know why it differs with Ralph list.

I use them for resin and fiber papers aswell. I do not make a difference.

I do not know if it is possible to substract a equal amount from these numbers? Any comments on that? I usually work between grade 2.5 and 4, so substracing would be great because it would give me more light.

Is

Y 30 M 40

the same gradation as

Y 0 M 10 ?

The numbers I gave came from the durst Multigraph manual printed in 1994. I've used them for RC. It worked reasonably well. The manual also gives numbers for Ilford Multigrade FB but as far as I know this particular paper is not produced anymore. The current FB paper is not the same as in 1994. The only paper I ever tried to calibrate myself is Foma warm tone FB. If you're interested.
