View Full Version : Shoot the weekend of April 19-21? winger 02-12-2008, 11:34 AM I want to be up in MA for the Marathon (I know someone from another site who'll be there). How about getting the NE APUG crew together somewhere on Sat or Sun? I'd likely drive up on Friday and home on Tuesday (after a stop at Newtonville Camera to spend a gift certificate). I know weather is a crapshoot, but we could have a backup plan in case (like a museum or something).
What ya say? gr82bart 02-12-2008, 12:58 PM In my calendar.
Regards, Art. bdial 02-13-2008, 02:53 PM Added to mine too. papagene 02-13-2008, 05:15 PM I'll try to keep it open.
gene SuzanneR 02-13-2008, 05:29 PM I'll keep an eye on this thread, and hopefully, I will have a better idea of my schedule closer to the time, but if it's rainy or otherwise not conducive to a large group outing, then the Decordova has a photography show... Presumed Innocent that will still be there. That would be a great place to meet, in Lincoln, MA.
My kinda show, too! :D winger 02-13-2008, 06:34 PM Cool! DeCordova is a good back-up for bad weather, too. I used to shoot there a lot when it was free to wander around the sculpture park. Not free any more, I'm afraid. I'll be just back from a trip (Belgium and France!) and may find it hard to get away, but I'd love to join you guys. I'll follow this thread to see what shakes out. Mark_S 02-14-2008, 07:33 AM Count me in, and possibly my daughter as well - I will have just returned from a nasty business trip, and could use some unwinding. panastasia 02-17-2008, 08:28 AM Local APUG members,
Regarding the Boston Marathon: The Brae Burn Country Club, 326 Fuller St., West Newton (my original home town) has a parking lot next to Commonwealth Ave on "heartbreak hill". In the past we could bring our barbecue grills and coolers and gather in large groups. We had a motor home there one year that was featured on the evening news report - when Barry Nolan (TV journalist) was a local news anchor. Early arrival would be necessary to secure an area next to the street. It's been a number of years since I've been there, so some restrictions may be in place.
Just a suggestion - unfortunately for me, I have to work that day - hope for good weather.
Paul winger 03-23-2008, 04:41 PM I'm still planning to make it up there the weekend of the marathon! Keep hoping for good weather and we'll try to come up with a place to meet/shoot. gr82bart 03-23-2008, 06:10 PM Well, I have to bow out. I will be returning from a trip that weekend. Sorry, Bethe.
Regards, Art. SuzanneR 03-23-2008, 06:17 PM I will be around, but like Art, I will be returning from a short trip to Europe, and the 19th, as it turns out.. is the start of Passover, so I may have some family obligations.
I'm still going to keep an eye on this thread... the show at the DeCordova is well worth it, (ok... I've been about three times already, so what's one more?? :p )so if weather doesn't cooperate, that will be a good plan for back up, and easy for many of us to get to, I think.
It would be great to get together with everyone, too! I'll have a better idea of my availability a little closer to the time. Drew B. 03-23-2008, 07:29 PM I'll keep an eye on this thread also...to see what develops (where, when, what.) winger 03-24-2008, 08:11 AM :( Sorry I may not get to see you, Suzanne and Art. It won't be the last time we try to get together, though.
I'll be up anyway. DeCordova sounds good - I used to hang out there a lot when it was free (not so much after they started charging). Their gift shop was always good for Christmas shopping.
I have a gift cert for Newtonville Camera I need to spend, too. NavyMoose 04-02-2008, 08:24 PM :( Sorry I may not get to see you, Suzanne and Art. It won't be the last time we try to get together, though.

I took photos at DeCordova last year and the place is cool. I'd love to get together for this shindig, but I want to shoot large format. I'd be afraid of holding people up because I tend to take a long time to shoot. I'm a beginner with LF.

Don't worry about that. I am, too. And we don't really move that fast. We tend to find a place and just hang out and shoot that area. Come on - join in! I don't have anything on that weekend that I can think of. Count me in. :D
I'm livin' large and lovin' it! If the weather is nice this weekend, I'm going to do some LF on Rt 2A of the Colonial homes and picket fences :D
Navy Moose NavyMoose 04-10-2008, 09:25 PM What will the exact date of this shoot? Sunday looks like the best day for me.
Navy Moose winger 04-11-2008, 03:37 PM It looks like Sunday is the best for me, too. I just have to confirm tha tI have a place to stay and I'll be all set. bill h 04-13-2008, 11:34 AM Sunday looks promising for me, too.

AFAIK we're meeting at DeCordova on Sunday, a time has not been decided to the best of my knowledge.
Navy Moose winger 04-14-2008, 08:20 PM That sounds like part of a plan. The park is open during daylight hours. The earlier we are, the fewer people will be there. But I'm still not a morning person, so you guys can decide on a time.

I propose 10AM, I am a morning person but I do like to sleep in a bit on Sunday :D winger 04-18-2008, 09:10 PM 10am works for me. I was thinking someone would suggest 9 (though most of the NE people know I'd never make it at 9), so 10 is fine. See you all there! |
