Hello everyone. Just moved from Dublin, Ireland to Sydney for work and want to start developing and printing my own work again and was wondering if anyone has any links to any darkrooms in Sydney?

Thank you!
Johnny

As someone wrote there is the ACP in Paddington with B&W and colour darkrooms for hire. $30 annual membership is reasonable plus the members card gets you discounts at a few labs & photo supply places.
ACP enlargers are pretty basic, if you want higher quality have a look at Blanco Negro at Alexandria http://www.blanconegro.com.au/front/darkroom.
I have also used Steve's darkroom at the Lighthouse at Bondi & he has a good setup.

Hello again,

Seems I relocated to Melbourne and am really interested in doing b/w dev and prints? Any such lab's as before that enable you to rent enlargers/chemicals in Melbourne? Sorry for asking again!

Hi Johnny,
Point Light gallery and school of photography in Surry Hills is the "spiritual home" for those dedicated to traditional photographic techniques in and around Sydney. I will also PM you with some recent announcements about the status of workshops and darkroom hire at Point Light.

Welcome from people who are similar to the Aussies and the Irish but now half a world away. Best of luck "down under". There are some great APUGers down there. Pity the country is so big and people so far apart from a face to face contact aspect. Still the internet makes everybody live next door - in a virtual sense at least.

p.s. Depending on where you are living in Sydney the Primrose Park Photography group may also be of interest to you. It has a pretty good traditional darkroom and if you join the club I believe the cost is very reasonable and access is quite flexible. Tony Peri is one member I know there who is active in the club and a traditional film shooter so feel free to contact him and make some further inquiries about the darkroom.

Whoops - sorry I missed the second post! Not as familiar with the Melbourne scene. I understand Melbourne Camera Club still has darkroom facilities.

If you find out tomorrow you've actually been posted to Brisbane, all hope is lost!
