I'll be in New Orleans all of next week for a conference, I hope to be able to escape the conference periodically to do some shooting. So I guess I'll bring some gear.

Is anyone going to be around and interested in meeting? If nothing else, it might be nice to get a few tips on where to go and where to stay. [being a supreme procrastinator, I have waited until this point to find a place for me and 4 students and because of the conference everything is sold out or overpriced!!! So I guess we'll be driving in daily from a surrounding area.]

As to things to do, stuff to see, well... Take the Charles St trolley out into the Garden District. The trolley itself is fun, of course, and the homes of the Garden District are just amazing. On a separate excursion, check out at least one of the cemeteries there, best done during daytime (for safety reasons) and with a tourguide (so the tombs you visit will be meaningful - otherwise it's just another ornate above-ground crypt). The French Quarter is fun to wander, but not so much photogenic. A Gallery for Fine Photography (http://www.agallery.com/) is definitely worth a look. Plus lots of neat antiques shops and the like down in that neighborhood.
