Thought I ought to reintroduce myself. I haven't been on APUG for a while. In fact, I just logged on and saw that I had 73,423 unread posts since my last visit. Don't know if that's a record, or not.

Lately I've been printing much of my wife's prolific output from her Canon D40 in Photoshop and to be honest, some of my 35mm color neg stuff (color darkrooms are not enjoyable.)

My primary love remains analogue B&W, primarily 5x7 Tri-x and medium format delta 3200. Just repaired my Jobo and I'm raring to go. (hope 1 year old pryocat still works.)

It's good to be back.

Take care,
Tom

hey tom some big news is that fuji announced a new medium format folder, who knows if they will put it in production but it looks cool.polaroid discontinued all film(were all hoping fuji will license it) and kodak also announced a new film camera, most likely just a rebadge.all these can be found here in the forums.maybe others can fill in the gaps,it may be helpful to let us know how long its been,i assumed a year due to your post.

Welcome back.
The pyrocat that I have, (one year old at Xmas), still seems to be fine.
I also shoot Tri-X in 5x7, as well as other formats. What 5x7 camera(s) do you use? I use a Kodak 2-D mostly, but I also have a Korona, a Gundlach and a Burke & James Grover monorail. (Which I keep wanting to call a "Cleveland".)

Welcome back Tom. As you may have noticed APUG has grown quite a bit in size of membership. And it is still the great place as it always was.
Enjoy catching up on those 73,423 unread posts!! ;)

Hey, Tom. Good to see you back on the forum. Still schlepping the 5x7" P2, I assume?

Hi Tom, welcome back. It will definitely be worth checking out your pyrocat, I am still using a batch of HD prepared last April.

I often have students ask, "I was away last class. Did I miss anything"?
To which I answer:
1. No. We never do anything of any consequence in class. I don't know why people come to class.

2. Yes. Everything that is on the next test, we covered last class. There will not be a review.

Hey -welcome back!!

Tom:

1) Welcome back;

2) You haven't missed a lot - just don't mention 20 Mule Team Borax :).

Yes, still lugging around the 5x7 Sinar P2, though I'm using a 150 f5.6 more now instead of my 300 f 5.6. Makes a big difference in terms of the weight of the system.
And Bruce, I think I could at least pass a pop quiz on the last 75,000 posts. There are limits as to how much APUG could change.
I'm shooting a lot of 320 tri-x and delta 3200 in 6X4.5, since I can't find a 35mm B&W film that I like as much as either of those. Delta 3200 rated at 800 in 645, instead of 35mm Tri-x at 200 means that my 80mm f2 lens for my Contax 645 is the equivalent of a Noctilux, but easier to focus :)
