I just posted this in the camera building section with pictures. I haven't completely finished it. Some minor cosmetic touches still to do and she will be officially done tomorrow.

Matt, welcome back! What are you nuts?? Hell Sandy King wants me to build a 20x24! I live in a small one bedroom apartment for crying out loud! I need to clear out the dust in this place. I have given some thought to building an 8x10 to replace my Seneca Improved. I really need to stop all of this building and get to work shooting some film and printing. Some time in the future I may do some more but not now. The passion for it is not there. I'm burnt out. I must say that 11x14 is an impressive size! It looks much bigger than the 8x20. Must be the height of this thing. Need to make time to burn some film.
How was the trip to China? Are you back or still there? Can't wait to show you this camera it came out real good.

Keith, funny!!!!! I built it with all of it's unique quirks built in so if I ever sold it I would hear nothing but complaints. It is just to damn nice to ever part with.
Gustavo, I'll give you a call and let you know when I can bring her over.

Wow! I feel all jazzed when I finish a Dorff lensboard.
You really have something to be proud of.
Can't wait to see the images. What?? You're building a walnut scanner???

Here is the crazy thing. I still have some of this nice Walnut left! Right now no more cameras or scanners for that matter! Can't wait to make some images and post them.

I can beat any of you. One million dollars (paid with above bill).

All right Walter! I guess I could be convinced to build another one! The first one is always more valuable isn't it? So I have to have a year and a good million and we're good to go! Fat chance! In my excitement to show her off I forgot to put a lens on. I took a couple of shots with my Voigtlander Euroscop 16" Hybrid lens. This lens covers at infinity wide open! Should make a decent portrait lens. 36" of bellows may just work. I'm going to eventually have a brass plate made for the front of the camera that will have it's name and completion date. Need to do the same for the 8x20.

What are you going to name it? Junior:)

Jim Fitzgerald

Eric, the 8x20 is "The Beast I" and this one is "The Beast II". I will eventually get one of those baby joggers to carry both of them in. That should be something to see. The cameras are almost bigger than I am!

Congrats Jim,

With all those offers I have one bit of advice. Only accept silver certificates (does anyone remember those?)

Lovely work.

Cheers,
Clarence

Clarence, not even a silver certificate will get this one. She is a keeper! Yes I remember the silver cert's. Wish I still had some.

She's a lovely camera, Jim! Walnut is such a rich and beautiful wood. And there's a satisfaction in photographing with your own creation.

Still... have you considered painting it a nice Burke & James grey?

Forget these cheeseball money offers. Silver shmilver. I'll trade you the whole town of Tonopah for it. Think of it, you could own your own desert town. You could be King. I'm King now but I'll step down of course.

Congrats, Jim. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with it. Shawn

Jim, "One day I shall be King" I like that. I can see it now the Emperor arrives. No money, no gas, no food but a s--- load of film and cameras. Do I get the gifts from the little green men to? The key to the lens mine? I know I'm pushing my luck but why not go for the gusto!
Mark, Could you imagine. I get home from work and one of my neighbors has broken into my apartment with a can of gray spray paint and has had their way with both the 8x20 and the 11x14!!!! I later find out he is an ex-employee of B&J! Nightmares!!!
Shawn, Jim has given me some ideas on using paper negs. Hope to post something tomorrow night. Thanks.

Jim
