A couple of days late, but here is the final run off for the Autumn 2008 Meeting Venue in the UK. I've limited the final poll to four contenders and not three as Dave suggested as we had a tie for third place. This poll will run for 21 days e and you will be limited to a single vote.

If Dorset is selected, I am happy to provide some location advice, even if I cannot attend. Some of the places I consider best are only suitable for a couple of tripods at a time. This is frustrating if you've walked for 20 mins to get there.

thought I'd give this thread bump as the simple act of voting does not appear to push this thread to the top of the list :)

Dartmoor, Dorset, Exmoor. In that order. Wales is a bit too far for me. Happy snapping.

It's all a bit north and south!! 3 places in the far south and one in the far north. Being from Derby, I'm biased to a more central location that's even for everyone. Birmingham perhaps?

Hi ted - these locations are the result of a couple of prior polls with a variety of locations put forward and narrowed down.

And in the Blue (Dartmoor) corner...

If you are looking for inspiration then I came across a fantastic little web site today, all about Dartmoor.

Now the venue's decided, any idea of dates? Is there someone local to Anglesey who's willing to take the lead?

Too far for a weekend for me. It's a bugger of a drive from where I am.
Next venue maybe.

I've never been up there myself but I know some folks up that way ... I can poll a few for ideas on hotels.

Anglesey: Only passed by when in North Wales but I think it should be a good venue. Quite a drive from West Cornwall but I may do some other parts of Wales on the way up to max the mileage and the time away. Will try to get there if I can - dates permitting.

Cheers, Neil.

First draft ...

Menai Bridge and Bangor may be good options to look for a hotel. There's the Victoria ... this comes recommended ...

Not quite large enough (I'd like to think) but it could make a suitable ops centre if paired with another hotel in the town. There are quite a few others ...

Up near Holyhead there's the Trearddur Bay Hotel. It's large, but doesn't quote a price on the website. Not a good sign.

Beaumaris is a pretty place ... The Liverpool Arms, though it's not clear how large it is.

And the Bulkeley, but at a price.

I'll look further, but if anyone has experiences of hotels here, whether on or just off the island, it'd be good to hear.

Hi Fintan

http://www.carregmonhotel.co.uk/, probably in the bar :) People will be turning up at widely differing times I expect. PM me if you want my mobile number in case of problems.

Thats great Richard, we're staying there so navigating to the bar shouldn't be too much of a problem :D:D

Unless of course like the spring meet's hotel it doesn't actually have a bar ...

The bar worries were unfounded, the Guinness was pretty damn nice :p
