When transporting these two enlargers, do I need to do anything like take out condensers to prevent chipping?

I'm not sure they can sit in the back seat. I'm reluctant to lay them down with the rear seats dropped forward, but it might be the only way they fit.

Maybe bubble wrap to support the heads when sideways.

I don't want to do anything to cause damage or misalignment.

Oh, does anyone know the status of the condenser on the 23C-III regarding 6x9 capability - standard or option?

Thanks

i would remove the condensor on the 23c
i am not familar with the omega.

you could also remove the strut from the baseboard.

if i remember correctly the 23c is up to 6x9.

Yes, the 23C-III is up to 6x9; I just didn't know if that required a different condenser than the smaller formats.

It's a 3 mile trip...but better safe than sorry.

Murray, I hauled a 5x7 Elwood diffusion enlarger 65 miles home on carrier bars on top of a VW bug with no problems, but that was an Elwood. Removing the column from the baseboard is easy on most enlargers, and makes them much easier to transport. If condensers can be readily removed, do so. If they are securely mounted in the enlarger, they should ride OK that way.

I had a beseler 23C series II shipped to me in the original shipping box from the 60's or 70's, the thing is a tank. Unless your heading for every pot hole out there, it'll be fine.

I got them home fine. I took the condensers out and lamp heads off for transit. Other than the 23C head trying to tilt the opposite way I wanted, they were fine. Thanks for the moral support!

I keep a good stock of mover's shrink wrap plastic at home. Great for camping, moving odd sized things, soccer games, etc.
You can get them at office supplies and moving supplies. When I picked up my Beseler 4x5, i shrinked wrap the whole thing like a cocoon. Works wonders these things.
