I am taking my M6 to London tomorrow to have the alignment sorted out. Does anyone recommend anywhere to have this done. I usually use Classic Camera, but have heard bad things about them and have not had fantastic service from them before (in terms of the time it took).

Is there anywhere else that would be worth looking at.

Cheers.

One of the best techs by far is Peter Grisaffi at CRR Luton. I have had three cameras CLA'd by him,and they all have come back looking and performing like factory-fresh models.

I have no experience of them or their ability, but I know that a new store called Red Dot Cameras has been opened in London by a guy who has worked for the other Leica dealers. The page at the link below has info on repairs if you scroll down the page.

A belated thanks for all the replies.

In the end I did not have time to visit all the places I wanted (I was in meetings all afternoon). So I ended up back at Classic Camera. This time they were not so helpful. They said I would need to pay for a full service (I think this was £150+vat) just to get the alignment fixed. I pointed out that they had 'serviced' the camera last year and it didn't need a full service again so soon. Basically 'tough' was the answer, and that Leica would charge me £400. I could get another body for that price.

I will leave it till next time I am in London and try some of the other places (like red dot). I don't think alignment fixes are that difficult are they?

Leica Luton are also a long established business and seem to be always running at about 2 months for repairs as they are so busy. The link below takes you to their Price Guide page and it is worth a look around the site when you are there. (This may be the same place that Clay mentioned above?)
