I want to say Thanks to those APUG members who recently purchased some equipment from me. I have been hating paying $4 plus for gas and wanted to save my money for what I feel is really important... My photography.
So, I sold some darkroom equipment and some 8x10 film holders, a print of mine and bought this nice bike.
I plan to add saddle bags for my camera gear and other items. It means a lot to me that I save the cash for photography instead of burning it. I already do a lot of walking but with the bike with its soon to come bags, I'll extend my traveling and get in shape as well.
Thanks again to those who helped me along.
The bike is great!

Cool! Good for you!
I was thinking about selling my car and buying a new bike. I've been riding my old beater to the train for almost a year now. The car mostly just sits in the driveway and collects dust.

Good for you... enjoy. You might find that you can get to a lot of places on two wheels that four would never allow. I plan on doing a few miles on some local trails tomorrow... just trying to figure what equipment I can safely pack and what is better left at home.
Cheers,

Excellent idea. I took my bike out last weekend. First time for about nine months. I must make it a regular thing.

Congratulations Robert.
I am planning to buy a bicycle too and even though the money is hard to come by, I don't think I will be selling any of my photographic equipment for it. I do need one though and am kinda jealous of your new purchase. Which is a feeling I don't have for people buying cars and motorcycles. Weird.
Since I'm more than a little lazy, I bought a 250cc scooter instead. A Yamaha X-City, to be precise. :)

There are a lot of people at my work that have started cycling in. With fuel price increases, I'm considering it as well. I'll save enough to buy a roll of HP5 every day i cycle instead of driving

Well, I rode my bike today and it rained on me. But Hey, it's Oregon!
Next thing is the racks for my camera gear!

August Sander rode around his part of Germany with an 8X10 on 1910 roads to drum up business.
