The wonderful thing about being a Canadian in the States is I get back to back celebrations! Happy July 4 to my American friends. It's a great country to live in. Like JD in Canada, I too will renew my visa and stay another 3 years at least. Thanks for being awesome hosts. I've already had a couple shots to welcome the day and tonight I'll have some more! Plus some hot dogs in between.

Regards, Art

This delightful symbol of our freedom appeared in our neighborhood yesterday as a part of an effort to maintain order and deter the use of illegal fireworks (warning: non-analogue image content)--

If we get a good view of some fireworks from our fire escape, with a wide lens, there might be a good photograph in there tonight.

Hoisted the colors this morning! We'll stake out a place around sundown tonight where we should be able to see both (yes, both) of the city's fireworks displays. We won't be close, but there won't be crowds either!

The country is in a kind of funk right now, but we've been through worse and we'll get through this, too. For the weekend, we'll all get together and celebrate the good things.

Thanks for the kind regards from our neighbors! :)

Down here in Cotuit bay off the coast of Cape Cod, we sat in one of hundreds of watercraft and watched a wonderful fireworks display last night. A great time was had by all....except after slowly working our way back up river and trying to avoid all the other boats! Happy 4th!

Looks like the prison guard tower has been moved to some other part of town.

Happy 4th to all! And a hearty thanks to all those brave men and women who gave all to create such a wonderful country.

At 7AM this morning I woke my neighbors with a blasting rendition of Ray Charles' version of God Bless America, like I do every year. :)
