You're old when you remark about someone looking quite old...and you find out he/she is your age or younger.

The 70 mark is not written in stone. Depending on how I feel at 69 I may move the goal post. Scientists have shown that the older you get the older you're going to get (statistically speaking of course). Stan160 07-22-2008, 06:19 AM My 94 year old great-aunt still talks about "old people" as if that is a category she hasn't yet reached. Mind you, although she needs a hearing aid and can only walk short distances with the aid of a stick, I think she has a more active social life than I manage at just over 1/3 of her age! Steve Smith 07-22-2008, 06:44 AM My 94 year old great-aunt still talks about "old people" as if that is a category she hasn't yet reached.! My 94 (or is it 95?) year old grandfather does exactly the same. He once told me that my grandmother (87) was knitting squares to make into blankets for 'the old people'. I recently found my grandfather on his shed roof trying to fix a leak and another time trying to get a wire around his chimney stack to repair his ham radio antenna. He waited until he was 72 to get the licence for that! Age is a combination of how active your mind is and how lucky you are with your general health. Steve. colrehogan 07-22-2008, 08:43 AM I think that Michael Keating's character, Vila, on Blake's 7 said it best: "I'm going to live forever or die trying." I thought on my recent trip to Ft. Collins, CO for Foto 3 that it was odd that I was being called "ma'am". Since when do I rate being called that???? :o I'm only 40! :o Geez! :D David Brown 07-22-2008, 09:44 AM you find yourself admiring a young (over 18) lady from afar, remind yourself that you are old enough to be her father. DOOOH! Or overhear a college-age woman refer to you as "that man", when you still think of yourself as "that guy". But, those young women are so much nicer to me now ... |
