Good Afternoon, Fellow APUGers,

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced a considerable delay in receiving a refund of the foto3 registration fee.

I sent the $175 in late December; by mid-May, circumstances (my own and those of the conference itself) had changed enough to prompt my decision not to attend. (Sorry about that: there are many of you I had been hoping to meet in person.) Several weeks before foto3, I sent View Camera magazine a refund request. I received no response, although my e-mail was disrupted for a few days in late May, and it’s just possible that one was sent which I did not receive.
On June 20, I sent a second letter to View Camera, reiterating the previous request. I received no response. On July 9, I sent a third letter with the same request. To date I have not received a response. Each letter contained both my postal address and my e-mail address.
I think I am a reasonably patient person, but two months’ delay from my first communication seems inordinate. Have other APUGers experienced any similar difficulty? Have any had a completely contrary experience?

Chalk it up to experience. In the past I have had similar problems getting in contact to settle problems. YOu may have better luck with a telephone call.
Good luck!

I would keep trying. I am sure that the last thing that the persons at View Camera Magazine want to do is tarnish their pristine reputation within the photographic community.

No stick in there. Get your money back.

One person changed the whole scenario. You didn't get what you were going to pay for, I'm sure even in the US that's a grounds for a full refund.

I thought about going, but it didn't fit in with our plans. At the last moment I found it was a viable trip luckily I saw \the warning signs.

I would send the next letter to the New Mexico Attorney General as well.

Apparently the 'best' method to communicate with the svengal ... err gentleman from Arizona is to post a message at this site: http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/ Amazingly, you wouldn't be the first to complain either. Those that tried to call, e-mail or mail directly have gotten nowhere, allegedly. Be aware of the harpies and sycophants that will attack you for questioning a messiah.

Regards, Art.

Actually, the best way to get in touch with the staff at View Camera is to pick up the phone and give them a call (800-894-8439 or 505-899-8054).
