View Full Version : Thank you Honda, and goodbye... MurrayMinchin 07-24-2008, 02:00 AM Our trustworthy twelve year old Honda Civic is gone, but its final act of loyalty was in saving my wife's life a couple days ago. She was going to pick up our daughter from a class at the local Museum when the driver of an oncoming full sized pickup truck "became unconscious" and swerved sharply into her drivers side door. The Honda's frame is bent and the whole side of the car and roof on the drivers side is a mangled mess, but she has no broken bones! This is day two after the accident so she's really sore and I'm watching her all the time for signs of complications, but we just can't believe how lucky she was not to come out of it with a broken hip, or neck, or back, or arm, or cranium, etc.
Hug the ones you love and don't forget to say you love them, often, as you just never know where or when the random lightning bolt is going to hit.
Murray david b 07-24-2008, 02:06 AM Glad to hear she is all right.
My wife is 8 months pregnant and I refuse to let her drive or get in our Subaru Impreza because of the low seating in it. We have a Honda CRV and I feel much safer in it. Andy K 07-24-2008, 02:53 AM Glad she's ok Murray.
To find out how safe your car is see Euro NCAP crash test results here (http://www.euroncap.com/Content-Web-Start/$c7dad01d-a23c-4ae6-bc4c-2676e24a78c2/home.aspx). billschwab 07-24-2008, 04:05 AM Very frightening Murray! Happy she is OK. David A. Goldfarb 07-24-2008, 07:28 AM Glad to hear she's okay, Murray! TheFlyingCamera 07-24-2008, 07:36 AM Glad to hear she's ok, and so are you and your kids. Car accidents are always traumatic, psychologically as well as physically. Here's to a speedy recovery for everyone! asrafferty 07-24-2008, 07:38 AM Hug the ones you love and don't forget to say you love them, often, as you just never know where or when the random lightning bolt is going to hit.
Amen! ricksplace 07-24-2008, 07:53 AM Good to hear she is OK. My daughter was in a car accident a few years ago. Someone pulled out in front of her on the highway and she T-boned him at 100 km/hr. She walked away with a bruised hand and a sore chest from the seat belt. The impact blew her shoes off. Air bags and seat belts saved her life. My Malibu was crunched all the way to the windshield. (total write-off). I count my blessings every day. bdial 07-24-2008, 08:15 AM It's easy to forget that the car's best purpose is to protect people we love from idiots. Glad to hear she's OK. Photo Engineer 07-24-2008, 10:09 AM Best wishes Murray. Very sorry to hear of this tragic event.
PE winger 07-24-2008, 11:29 AM Very good to hear she fared well. Even without physical injuries, car accidents leave a mark. So glad to hear that she made it through unscathed. Each day with our loved ones is a blessing, and made all the more invaluable after an event like this.
Best wishes,

Tell her that there are hundreds (thousands?) of photographers who are glad she is ok, and wishing her (and her family) the best.
Matt papagene 07-24-2008, 12:51 PM Murray... I am so glad she is OK. Please give her our best wishes, then give her a (gentle) big hug.
gene johnnywalker 07-24-2008, 04:23 PM Glad to hear she's ok Murray. Good point about the lightening bolts. They get good drivers too. André E.C. 07-24-2008, 04:27 PM Happy to know your family is OK, what a crazy world we live in!
André John McCallum 07-24-2008, 11:06 PM Hi Murray. One scary incident. Very glad things were not worse. John. MurrayMinchin 07-25-2008, 02:24 AM Thanks for the kind words.
To quote the insurance guy, "The car's a write off. Right behind the drivers seat it's completely destroyed".
