Anyone know how AKG phones are generally [quality wise?] epatsellis 07-28-2008, 09:08 PM pertty darn good, from what I remember. David A. Goldfarb 07-28-2008, 09:48 PM I have an old pair of K240s. They produce a very clean sound, but require a higher output level than other headphones to produce the same volume, so they're good for monitoring off a mixer or with a dedicated headphone amp, but might not be ideal for an iPod or portable CD player. I don't know if this applies to the K77s. Markok765 07-28-2008, 10:00 PM I have an old pair of K240s. I don't know if this applies to the K77s. I find I get the same output from my computer, ipod, and mixer. The K77s have a very clean sound, with less bass than general [at least on my computer] my vinyls/ipod sound normally bassy on them. kodachrome64 07-28-2008, 10:57 PM I love the AKG brand. They make top-notch stuff. I have a pair of K701 headphones and they sound amazing out of my headphone amp/DAC. With these cans an amp is essential to get good sound. I also use their microphones for my home recording (other hobby) and finally saved up for the AKG C414B XLS microphone, which is one amazing piece of equipment. You can't go wrong with AKG, even if something breaks they are good about warranty work. Kevin Caulfield 07-29-2008, 12:50 AM I bought some K44s a few years ago when I bought an electric guitar, for monitoring directly, and although I've hardly used them recently, they are great for that purpose. AutumnJazz 07-29-2008, 02:25 AM I have some AKG K240 Sextets from the 70s, and I love them. They look brand new, too! lol ben-s 07-30-2008, 06:13 PM Never used AKG cans, but they make some lovely mics. My go-to mic for a lot of location work is a C451B. I also use a C451 with a CK8 shotgun capsule a lot too. If it's AKG, you can usually trust it to do what it says on the tin, very well. |
