I personally have no interest in creating one, but others might: http://photocritic.org/create-photo-blo/

I never had an interest, but then a friend of mine started one. It's a great way (another avenue) to showcase new work, while at the same time, keeping your main website lean and mean. So I created one... as mentioned, they are free.

I think I might jump in on this. I became completely disillusioned with Blipfoto when I started shooting film, and this could be handy way to encourage me to shoot frequently.

Just use blogspot or wordpress like everyone else.

Cheap and easy

Wordpress.com gets my vote. I host my own install on nearlyfreespeech.net (almost free), but it works great as a photoblog. It may be a little more than you need, but if you intend to mix photo/text posts it's the only way to go.

Nice! I was just wondering what a Wordpress photoblog might look like.

Well, I did it. The "field" portion of "track and field" was boring me.

Wordpress really is an idiot-proof setup. I am impressed. I'm not really sure what the purpose of this is, but now it's here.

Looks nice Anthony!

Thanks to everyone who visited my blog today. I got more hits than I ever had before.

I'm a little behind on posts, but I've found blogspot.com to be rather easy to use. I don't have a means of tracking hits and such like Alex mentioned though... something to think about if you're starting from scratch. http://shawndougherty.blogspot.com/

Alex, that is because the blog looks Great! I am very impressed, just set up one in the last week at WordPress, but as Shawn mentioned Blogspot is nice also. Either one works..

BTW, stop by my rambles (http://mikecastles.wordpress.com) in a month or so, will have some photos and thoughts on the new Ritter 7x11/8x10 camera.

Good 'Un Shawn! I'll get a link on mine to yours.

The Stats tracking is a feature of the WordPress stuff. Its very handy for showing where the hits on your site are coming from and what entries are being viewed.

You can use Google Analytics on your blogger blog, Shawn.

The best way to maintain a blog is to keep a text file of ideas on your computer and a folder full of images that have already been resized for the blog. Makes doing a post a piece of cake, and you always have something to say when you are in the mood to post.

I use blogspot, too. You can add software that will track things for you, Shawn.
Go to statcounter.com, create and account, and somewhere in your settings you can cut and paste the software code from statcounter. If you look along the right side of my blog at the bottom... it says "thanks for stopping by", that's where the code resides. I had to put something out there.

It's easy to add.

Love your blog. Alex. It looks great!

The site which Art put up a link to runs on Wordpress.

My 'errant apostrophe sensor' went into overload on the first sentence This article discusses the what’s, how’s and why’s of running a photography blog.

Looks interesting though. I may give it a go.

Steve.

Thanks brofk and and Suzanne. I will check into google analytics first as I'm use it for work, should have thought of that myself. If I can't get that to work I'll look into statcounter. Thanks again. Shawn

That would be enough for me to go elsewhere.

Love your blog. Alex. It looks great!

Thanks Suzanne. Wow, had no idea yours had been going for two years. Very nice. Deepest sympathies for the loss of your grandmother.

Thanks to everyone who's viewed my blog. I'm going to be adding all the links that have shown up here. Everyone is doing really nice work.

Just successfully added Google Analytics to both my BLOG and my website. I already had tracking on the latter but GA is superior. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Anthony,

nice blog. How do you get wordpress to accept so large pictures, like your first one? I am trying to set up a blog myself, but wordpress does not accept pictures broader than 800 pixels from me.

thanks
Erik

It's the theme I'm using, though I can't remember the name of it. It's the only one listed under "Photography" though.

Missed this... thank you, Alex. It's been a difficult month, but at 99, it was her time.

As for blogs... I find the discipline of maintaining a blog great for my own creative juices, and I like to read about the process others work out in their own photography, so I have a "blog roll" of the blogs I read each morning over coffee. That said... you didn't realize I had it for 2 years because I did not really market it, but I've been in a pretty good groove with it for now, so having a few regular readers feels great!!

I've added yours to my blog roll, Alex!!
