Effective speed is about 2 or 3. A soft working developer is necessary, in other words a film developer works better with it than paper developers. I've done some simple portraits with it, using an improvised binocular lens mounted to a nested box camera. I found it needs a considerable amount of preflash to help get good tonal range; on the order of ~3x the amount of preflash I normally give my grade 2 paper negatives to control contrast.
