Is there an adapter so that I can use B60 filters on a chrome SWC (from 1961) ?

Hi david,

I'm not sure, but I think you need to use bayonet filters only, but again, i'm not 100% sure of this, maybe Q.G drop by and can be a better help for you.

If you have the original retaining ring it takes Series 8 filters. Without the ring it uses 67mm.
To use B60's you would need a 67mm>B60 adapter. I don't know about availability.

So normal 67mm filters screw into the lens threads?

The answer to the original question is 'no'.

67 mm threaded filters do 'fit', but only a bit. The threads are not quite the same as the ones on the lens.
So you can use some, but do not force them on if they won't go far enough not to fall off!

Thanks for all the responses.

For some weird reason, I found a brand new 63 haze filter, in the box, in my Hasselblad junk drawer.

I'm gonna have to go through this stuff again.

I have yet to run into a Series 8 retaining ring that wasn't 67mm. I've only been at this since 1972 though.

There's more to thread than diameter.
The Series VIII thread is not (!) the same as the thread used on 67 mm Filters.
No matter how long you've been at this.

You're right. A Series 8 filter isn't threaded it's a drop in.
And yes, there's more than diameter, it's called tpi or, threads per inch. And we mustn't forget pitch either.

You got me there...! Almost: i haven't mentioned Series VIII filters with thread have i? ;)

Anyway: the thread on the Hasselblad lenses taking Series VIII (or Series 63, as Hasselblad calls it) is not the same as the one on 67 mm thread mount lenses.
The thread on the Series VIII/63 retaining ring consequently isn't the same as that on 67 mm thread mount filters either.

As was mentioned: the two will mix. But only a bit.
