Fintan, which way are you taking?

BTW where is the "introduction" forum in this place?
and the buy-n-sell one?
Beg your pardon, but I am little bit lost :D

I'm hoping to take the whole of Friday off (yippee) and stop off along the way (...and shoot) on my way up. If there is anyone from down here going up they are welcome to join me.
Mel

If I can, I'm going to try head down earlier on Friday afternoon to have a wander.
So if I'm any use to anyone I'll be leaving Bray around 2/3pm and have plenty of room in the car.

If Peter is picking up Gigi, maybe Tex could sneak off early :o ;)

Fintan I intend to take Friday off to sort out some personal stuff and then take the train up to Dublin to meet you around Connolly Station. Just state the meet up time.

Cheers
Vincent

I just got a call from The Kippure Lodge to say their Christmas party for Friday 5th has been cancelled and as a result the bar will not be open for us :(

There is a bar (Mooneys) about five minutes drive away and the lady said she can book taxis for us if we wanted to go there. Other wise we can cancel our bookings if we want. What say you?

Edit: Forgot to say she will open the bar if there are 10 of us but at present there are only 7 booked in.

I guess it's easier to stay where we are and try taxis?

Tell her we will drink 33% percent more than we had intended to :D

Yes I agree but I just rang her back to say there is another four people joining us that evening but not staying in the Lodge so that brings the numbers up. She is going to check if that is ok with the manager and come back to me. She thinks it should be fine though.

Just been down to the bridge today, river was like a torrent due to heavy downpour. Note: For anyone coming from the Dublin direction, on the road to Blessington when you see the first sign for Kilbride slow down and keep an eye out for the turn which comes up very quickly and is hard to see. For those of us who are not staying overnight, any time set for arrival/meet up? P.S. Bring wellies! Regards Brian

Hi everyone, sorry I've been awol at the moment as I'm up to my eyes in work..
I just talked to them down at the Lodge.. they said we would need to guarantee 10 people for the bar or else they'll have to charge us for it.
She offered to call a taxi for us to bring us to the bar a few minutes away and then back again if we didn't have the 10... We just have to let them know our decision before then.
Would it be easier to just hop a taxi amongst us, or is anyone close by joining us for a pint on Friday night?

As an aside.. I cannot believe this is next week!

I am truly impressed that the major issue of concern regarding this event is not "what is the weather going to be like?", nor "will there be enough things of interest to photograph?", nor even "who exactly is coming?" - but rather, "will the bar be open?".

I salute you all.

Folks,is it impossible to plan a wishlist for a bulk order for the meetup?
I am thinking about films and chemicals... is there anyone else that needs something, so we can share the shipping costs?
(maybe 7dayshop, which is the "quickiest"...)

just an idea...let me know how it sounds!!

I'm heading home for Christmas (home being Blighty) and hoping to stock up as I'm taking the car. If you want to order stuff (ie Silverprint/retro)and have it delivered to my english address I have no problem bringing it back over. I'll also be going via Dublin-Holyhead (and stopping in Dublin at the inlaws for a day or two on my return) so you don't have to come down to Cork to collect...

If this helps at all let me know next weekend
Mel
