Brian Ed Sukach 10-11-2003, 10:39 AM Congrats on all the hard work Sean! Now get some sleep.
And from here, too. Much appreciated. jnanian 10-11-2003, 10:46 AM great job sean, looks great :) Well done, Sean. The outage hardly bothered me at all ;) Les McLean 10-11-2003, 11:34 AM Thanks for the work and time spent on the change over Sean. I tried to access the galleries section but couldn't, same with the articles section, is it me or is there a glich. Les McLean 10-11-2003, 11:37 AM Sean
Cancel my previous post, after I sent it I tried the gallery again and had no problems. I guess I'm a doddery old codger after all. Everything seems ok now. Good work Sean.
lee\c Eric Rose 10-11-2003, 12:26 PM What happened to the quick post thing at the bottom of the page. Haven't seen it in a while.
Also this provider isn't any better than the last. My pics still look lousy! LOL
Also when I click on Articles it just goes to hyper space somewhere. brimc76 10-11-2003, 12:55 PM Thanks for all the hard work Sean. It's greatly appreciated. Thomassauerwein 10-11-2003, 01:06 PM all my favorite places work great, Thanks Sean hopefully you won't have to fire this host for a while! Links is gone blank, as well.
No worries - I know where I want to go :D ian_greant 10-11-2003, 03:30 PM gee.. I love it when I go to bed and everything works when I get up.
sure beats banging my own head against the monitor. ;)
cheers,
Ian Hi, thanks for the kind words everyone :)
What's on the 'repair' menu for today:
*fix the links page
*re-add the quick reply function
*re-add the print topic function
*re-activate the secure pages (portfolio and post cards)
*add links to the new web host so we can get up to $52 per sign up if people click our link and sign up with lunarpages.com web hosting!
and anything else I stumble across. Shouldn't be to bad. Eric Rose 10-11-2003, 05:26 PM If these guys work out I might put my website on their servers. That is my photo website. We have our own webserver for my "real" job. That way you will get the $52 bucks and consider it another donation. That would be awesome Eric. I am setting up my 'affiliate' links now. I tell you, so far their support is so aggressive it borders on fanatical. I sent them an email about something, must have been 2am saturday night in the U.S. They emailed right back with the answer, and were like "is this all you need?, if there is anything else let us know and we'll take care of it right away".
I hope it stays this way! This is a nice change from being uncertain of your support to "wow, these guys are on top of things!". Their customer forums are great too, everyone was welcoming me to the host. They seem to work hard to make you feel less like a credit card number and more like a webmaster with good support you can rely on. Sean, I think you do an amazing job. Some of the comments you were making in a previous post were right over the top of my head and meant nothing to me, you were talking a different language !! Thanks for all your hard work.
Regards,
Roy. David A. Goldfarb 10-11-2003, 07:03 PM Thanks again, Sean, for all your work. So far so good on the new server. Jeremy 10-11-2003, 07:47 PM I had an odd quirk just a moment ago. The button to print the thread was X'ed out (such as are shown on IE when a graphic is unavailable) and when I clicked on it it took me back to the main forum page. Then I refreshed and voila! printer icon and link.
other than that, looks great! I just fixed it as you were trying to use it, hehe. It should be fine now.. Jorge Oliveira 10-11-2003, 08:25 PM Sean
Good work - always trying to improve the site.
Now, let me be the dissident voice :!:
I use a neat freeware program - Fastnet99 that speeds up surfing by maintaining kind of a local DNS copy on the machine.
When the server was changed, fastnet was not active (I only activate it from time to time) so APUG for me was at the old address.
This address is not dead - it's active (I've even posted to it; it would log me in) but nobody is using it anymore.
Looked as if a Digital bomb had blasted the place!
Whew! :D
Jorge O Jeremy 10-11-2003, 08:33 PM lol Sean, I was thinking that maybe that is what had happened :) Thanks for the comments.
Yeah, am about to remove the old site now. Unfortunately there is no way to redirect dns without probably paying some kind of fee. APUG's new ip address is: 216.193.194.13
But you probably know that already. Sounds like a cool tool by the way, might have a look at it. Thomassauerwein 10-11-2003, 09:18 PM Sean I am currently working to re-do my web site so I've given your guys a call we'll see what they can help me out with? |
