Hi All,

With the site growth it's time to spread the load a bit. I am pleased to welcome Suzanne Revy (SuzanneR) and Jason Brunner (JBrunner) to the moderation team. It has been years since we've brought in new moderators so it's not a decision that is taken lightly. They will be joining myself, David A. Goldfarb, Jd Callow, and Ole. The site has been running smooth these days and I'm sure Suzanne and Jason can help us keep an eye on things. It is fortunate for myself and APUG that we have such good people willing to volunteer their time to the community. Suzanne and Jason welcome to the team! :)

Welcome to the team, Suzanne and Jason, and thanks for taking on the responsibility! As far as forum issues go, it's been pretty calm lately except for spam, but it's great to have a couple more hands on the tiller, particularly when a few of us are traveling at the same time.

I think the temperament of those who visit the soapbox (as does Jason) and mark their visits there with restraint and wisdom bodes enormously well for the role of moderator. Jason is really, really bright, creative and perceptive...a terrific choice.

Suzanne is a very nice person (I'm privileged to have met her), and one damn fine photographer. She will bring a mature, reflective, and keenly intelligent perspective to the role of moderator. Another excellent choice!

Sean....ya done good!

Jason IS a nice guy, aren't you concerned with a conflict of interest having a sponsor as a moderator?

We did think about that. Jason was an active member on the forum long before he became an advertiser, and there doesn't seem to be any inherent conflict of interest that he has with any other advertiser (i.e., he's not in competition with other advertisers), and we think that he's a reasonable enough person to recuse himself from any decision where there may be a conflict of interest. Obviously, we'll see how it goes, but we don't anticipate any problems. Jason has always been a trustworthy character on the forum, and we don't expect that to change in his new role as moderator.

This was the first thing I brought up in discussion with Sean. The vast majority of moderation won't involve any issues along those lines, but if one ever did happen to even approach that area, I would recuse myself, and another moderator or Sean would handle it.

I think that Apug have had a very good moderation team, but even so – this might be a good move. It certainly is a good choice of people. .
