Some sad news to report--Carl's Darkroom in Albuquerque is going out of business after almost 35 years. I know most of us NM APUGers probably shoot B&W, but nonetheless it's sad to see them go. I relied on them for the occasional roll of E-6 and they consistently did a great job; reasonable prices, fast turnaround, never a scratch. They also did mail order processing, but apparently the volume wasn't enough to take up the slack from the local business.
I suppose it was bound to happen with the 1-2 punch of digital plus the economic downturn, but I was hoping they would weather the storm.

Bummer. Thanks, Robert, for the heads up. I just recently got back into shooting chromes on my old Minolta X-370 system.
I suppose it's off to find another alternative. BTW, what's the deal with Walmart; do they mail off E-6 to places like Dwayne's, or are they clueless?

I'm late to the game here...I'm also sad to see them go. I tried them for the ten rolls from my Crested Butte trip this year and they were much quicker turnaround time than I expected. Where are you guys considering sending your color work to now?

Visions (http://www.visionsphotolab.com) in Santa Fe does pretty good E-6 and they still do same day processing.

Carls' Darkroom was bought by DigiGraphics LLC in Fort Collins, Colorado. Carl's Darkroom website is still up and running, as well as the local phone number for Carl's 505-888-4505, which forwards toll-free to DigiGraphics.
Pricing for E6 processing has not changed. Processing orders may be placed locally at Desert Photo (next door to Carl's on Quincy) which are shipped free to DigiGraphics. Orders may also be shipped directly to DigiGraphics using order forms available on the website.
DigiGraphics has been in business since 1977. DigiGraphics runs 35mm through 8x10" E6/C41/BW and offers a range of other professional-level services for pro photographers and commercial clientele. DigiGraphics was a highly rated Kodak Q-Lab while that program was supported by Kodak. DigiGraphics owns Refrema processing equipment.
My name is Les De Moss, Founder of DigiGraphics. I can be reached at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 505-888-4505 or 800-728-8596. Please don't hesitate to call or write. Carl's Darkroom wanted this transition to be as easy as possible... we'll do all we can to meet that goal.
