Hi,

I recently moved from Europe to Melbourne. Found this regional group and thought it might be a good idea to join. My main interest is landscape photography for which I use 6x7 cameras. For everything else, I use 35mm rangefinder cameras. I only shoot slide film since I like to see my results projected.

I am always interested to join any group meetings in my area. It's a pity I missed the Melbourne large format meeting. I could have contributed with a small Linhof 6x9 technical camera which I use with a 6x7 roll film back.

Hope to meet many of you soon.

Joachim

Hi, Joachim, and welcome from Melbourne. :) There are quite a few of us here in Melbourne and we try to meet reasonably regularly.

Thanks, Kevin and Shane. I knew about the film prices. Therefore I brought plenty of film from Europe.

G'day Joachim, from another APUGger.
Remember always that film is cheaper than a return trip, but if both are equal or competing, keep going until you exhaust one of them! :)

Hello Joachim, hopefully you'll find a suitable niche, camera wise, in Melbourne.

Plenty to see and do and the day trips, let alone weekend trips, are really easy to do for landscape.

Are you north, south, east or west from the centre?

Mick.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

Mick, I live south-west from the centre but I work in Carlton.
I can reach many places without too much driving.

Hello Joachim. Welcome to Melbourne and to APUG. I'm also a landscaper but I use color neg. on a 5x4 camera.
We'll have to pursuade Poisson Du Jure into leading us to another waterfall in the Otways. There's a thread on the subject on this board.
Cheers, Peter.

Get a move on, Pete. That mentioned "another waterall in the Otways" should read waterfalls, plural, and it is this Sunday!
Ah, and I am not the leader. I chose a Drill Major for this walk to make sure the troops keep up! :D :D

Thanks again. Peter and Garyh: the waterfall walks sound great. Once I have settled down a bit more, I am ready to join. At this moment I am still waiting for all my belongings to arrive from Europe by sea container. This includes essentials like film magazines and my tripod and less important things like furniture and clothes ;)

We'll wait. Plenty more walks planned over Spring-Summer. Good recent rains mean the falls are flowing at their best since the Winter of 2003 and 2007.

and less important things like furniture and clothes...

Let's hope those "less important things like...clothes" arrive very soon. You can't wander around the Otways in a loincloth! :p
