An article in the NY Times about the current exhibition at ICP.

This is a good review of the ICP show, but ironically, it such a good distillation of what you see there that there's almost no reason to go see the show. The idea that fashion is such a compelling part of culture that it invites and compels individuals --especially women-- to think of themselves as stereotypical, marketable commodities is not new. Barbara Kruger, who has a very nice, single piece in the show, did this to greater effect years ago. The message is somewhat stale, and, in this show, repetitious. One hopes for something fresher from fashion-as-genre photo artists.
saw the stieglitz and avedon show - both excellent. can't imagine the photographers view of of fashion in this show to be so apparently lackluster!
