I've been enjoying the APUG website for several weeks, originally linked from the J&C Photo site. I've been away from hobby photography for over twenty years, but I am in the process of setting up a new wet darkroom in my home. Hopefully I can exhibit some photos from Texas that will be of some interest and I welcome your comments. I use 35mm SLR (usually low speed films - I loved Adox KB 17 back in the 60's) and 4x5. Most of my pictures are either architectural details or natural landscape subjects.

Apr 3 Thanks for the warm welcome. I was surprised to see so many replies this morning. I have been trying to get over to San Antonio to get pictures at the five Spanish missions and I am looking forward to Lee's exhibit of 8x10 work at Ventana gallery in June. I haven't seen his photos yet and I hope he will not think I copied his setups. There are some incredible interiors with 275 years of wear. Some rooms have original paint decorations. All the doors have real character.

Thanks again for the reception.

WELCOME TO APUG, GMA!

Sorry, I forgot to add that part earlier. Where in central Texas are you located. I'm in Denton, TX, which is near D/FW and I know of 3 others near D/FW.

I've lived in Texas -- a very kind, warm-hearted people indeed. You will no doubt find much of the same here as well.

Cheers, GMA!

Greetings GMA and Welcome from what I consider the better part of the FW/d....(that would be Fort Worth and Dallas to everyone else). If you ever come up to these parts (the Amon Carter is always worth a visit) let me know..Keep hoping to find time to get the N. ***** group together to put faces with the names.

Welcome and enjoy...I know I have.

Welcome and may you have great light all your days.

Now then....I was born in Texas but lived in MA for 12 years...I'm not sure which side I'm on!

Welcom, gma! I almost moved to San Antonio last year, but in the end I couldn't leave the green of the Appalachians. But that area of Texas seems to offer a lot to a traditional photographer.

Nice people here; I know you'll enjoy it.

Greetings - from a viking who stayed at home ;)

If you liked ADOX KB 17, I assume you now like EFKE KB 50? It's unfortunately the only EFKE emulsion not available in 4x5", but PL25 and PL100 are both great films!

Yes, Ole. I discovered last year that Efke is made to the old Adox formulas and sold in the US by J&C Photo. I ordered some 35mm KB 50. To me the old KB14 and KB17 negatives looked exactly the same so I decided to use the KB17 for the extra speed. I have not tried the PL100 4x5 yet, but I have noticed that it is your film of choice. I have enough of the recently discontinued Kodak Ektapan to last a while.
