I am passing by Beijing (just this weekend) in my trip in China and I am looking for 120 medium format film, preferably black and white but color as well.
I am staying at a hotel near Tianamen square.
Does anybody have any pointers?
(my next destination will be Xiamen, but it might be too late for photography then)

I haven't got an answer for you, but I'd ask the hotel staff. I remember a photo shop or two around Tianamen but couldn't give you directions. I'm jealous, by the way.

I dont know if it can help you or not, but you can try.
go to this URL:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=beijing+camera&sll=39.927576,116.406841&sspn=0.042783,0.061455&ie=UTF8&hq=camera&hnear=Beijing,+China&ll=39.926193,116.401005&spn=0.041138,0.061455&t=h&z=14&iwloc=B
point B is close to tiananmen and it is a big store.
There is another one at 299 wangfujing street. 010-65131542
Both of them are in the wangfujing area, which is a very popular tourism point and is definitely worth a visit anyways.
Hope it helps.
Enjoy!
Ari, is it possible that you were visiting the forbidden city yesterday (Saturday) with a Hasselblad, sometime late in the afternoon??
The reason I'm asking is, yesterday I was there as well and I saw a guy photographing one of those lion/dragon statues with a Hasselblad. When I started taking pictures of the same statue I realized that he seemed to be somewhat interested in my Leica. Well, I thought the guy looked very much like you...but the chances that it was you looked pretty slim.
Anyway, yesterday was my last day in China and I'm back in Turkey now.
I wish you a great onward journey.
cheers!

I asked the same question on Photo.net about a month ago and got one reply which I didn't check out since it was way out of the centre.

Hey that is a great hat Ari, even if I didn't know you I'd have to stop and speak with that 'Blad and hat combo
Ha ha. I needed one of those hats cause I froze my butt off in Beijing.
Are you sure it wasn't the Temple of Heavenly Harmony? :)
