How much for your prints?

Out of curiosity, if you sell prints, how big are they and what are your prices?

Usually a nominal 16"x12" with a print area of slightly over 11x8.5 is £120 ($192) for a FB archivally processed images, same price for smaller, and rises with larger sizes, certain images are slightly more.

I've been selling 8X10 prints matted in 11X14 frames for $75. That seems to be about all I can get. Could be my work.

My prints are 8x10 and 7x17 contact prints. The prices they command are so high that only I can afford them.... :-)

I have assorted sizes, but my most frequent sale is 11x14 matted and framed for $200 in a simple metal frame. Larger is more expensive. I am going to increase cost soon.
I sold a 12"x27" framed to 20"x35" to a friend when I was moving away for his newly purchased house at a discounted price of $600.

It's been too long for me. Had I developed a career of this my prints would be worth thousands. I've been inactive for a quarter century and all of my old stuff is lost or destroyed so I'd be "giving" my new work away. Screw that!! I'll let my new stuff rot in storage first. Just let it die with me.

Well, I haven't actually charged someone for any of my work yet....but I just printed some post cards on Ilford's PostCard Paper and I have them sitting in a local shop to sell for $1.50....We will see where that goes. For my regular work $25-$30 for a nice 8X10 print in a nice but cheap to me frame. Maybe I would charge a little more from a print from 4X5...not sure. If I just so happened to have an extremely amazing photo, maybe it would fetch more?

I sell 8x12 prints on 11x14 paper matted to 12x16 for $250 and 12x18 matted to 20x24 for $350. My 5x7 platinum prints are generally in the $250 range, and whole plate (6.5x8.5) and 5x12 are $300. As I'm just getting started with gum bichromate, I haven't set pricing on that yet.

my pricing structure:

first one $ = " of long side
after first, $ = " of short side
for each image of each size

example 6 prints of image "A" at 5 x 7 = $32

2 prints of image "A" at 8 x 10 = $18

total = $50

Remember that galleries take a huge chunk of this (40% where I have put stuff up), so the prices are "high" in my book.

I sold three color 20x24s (a one-off series of three related images for $2,000), and the entire limited edition of five black and white 15x15s, at two separate shows. (Kept the wall display print for mahself, and it is on my wall.) Strangely enough, when I put up smaller (AKA cheaper) prints of the work that I really consider to be my best at a third show, not one sold. Lots of compliments, but no sales. All 35mm hand held stuff; journalistic, diaristic, road travel, street, nightclubs, etc. Guess it is the kind of stuff that is fun to look at, but not something you would want on your wall. This sort of stuff I am going to start putting into books instead. Gallery walls are not where it belongs, IMO. Bad decision putting it up, but they offered the space and that is what I had been working on, so up it went. People love that IMO pretty unimpressive large-scale fine art shit that many people can do well, but have little love for the really great and difficult to make journalistic shots.

Usually un-matted, but I'll cut the matt & mount them for a nominal amount - to cover costs & time, or arrange for matting/framing if requested at cost.

Sometimes I'll throw in matting/mounting if someone's buying more than one image, and I have in the past sold sets of prints ready matted.

the last print i sold through a gallery was a matted/framed 8x10
( mat was 8ply frame was 16x20 ) and it was $300.
that was a few years ago and the print was hand printed &C.
these days i am having my work printed in a different way
and it is more affordable so more people can enjoy it ..
i can't really say where or how it is printed ... but the place
that is selling them for me will mat/frame things for the buyer as well.
