Hello, my name is Carl and I live in Cheshire.

I purchased my first 35mm SLR, a Pentax MX, back in 1983 and about two years later I started working in a photographic shop. It was here where I learnt how to process and print black & white films.

A couple of years after leaving in 1989, I changed over to Nikon and now use FM2's with various AIS lenses which I've managed to buy over the years. I tend to use only black & white nowadays, very rarely use colour, and enjoy processing my own films when I have some free time.

I still enjoy photography today as much as I did when I was first introduced to it. Digital photography has never interested me whatsoever. So, as long as companies such as Ilford continue to manufacture films and chemistry, I will carry on with my hobby.

I should point out that even though I have been doing photography for a few years now, it is purely a hobby. I am certainly not a professional and I feel there is always something new to learn. I hope to be able to offer advice to other members whenever I can, but I'm just as likely to be asking too. :)

Thank you very much for reading this.

All the best,

Carl.

Welcome Carl. I'm from Cheshire too, west end of the county. Into 135, 120, 6x9 and 5x7 formats, though I don't have anything like as much time as I would like to spend in the darkroom!

Thanks very much Ghart. I'm just outside Northwich. I see you have a variety of nice formats - I'm afraid I only have 35mm at the moment, but I did borrow a Mamiya C220 many years ago and I do like the 6x6 square format.

Welcome Carl, I hope you find APUG as useful as I have. My wife is from just outside Nantwich though she's been down south for many years now. Look forward to seeing some of your images of the area.

Thank you Barry. I like Nantwich very much - it's a lovely town and visit it quite regularly.

Welcome Carl, from near (snowy!) Washington, DC.

Thank you kindly John. Well here in Cheshire it's not snowing yet, but I think the weather forecasters are predicting some within the next few days.
