A retrospective will do that to you. Anybody seen his new film yet?

Anybody seen his new film yet?

Yes! I just saw it tonight. Fantastic -- just what films should be. Really put off by recent thrillers, but this one puts everything right. Beautiful photography and unrelenting tension, without resorting to such modernisms as the "40 car pileup chase scene with helicopter explosion" or the oh-so-clever-triple-plot twist. Corbijn's done a great job, and I think you'd really like it, David.

Hey David, I just saw 'The American'. Thanks for recommending it, I really enjoyed it. Quite a different character for for Clooney from his usual smug, sauntering Danny Ocean thing. More honest, I think. I loved the awkward tension in that scene where he's delivering the weapon and the two of them are field testing it. It's all subtext. Good filmmaking, great locations, but I wonder how this stacks up against the "3D with blue people and voices by Eddie Murphy" shit that keeps coming out. Probably a sleeper, but will find its audience eventually.

Best,

David.

P.S. Did you notice the yellow boxes?

P.P.S. Hey, I just noticed we're in the same city. Want to get together for coffee sometime?

Hi,
It would be VERY interesting if anybody, on behalf of APUG, could make an interview with Mike Spry about his work with lith in general and about his cooperation with Anton Corbijn in particularly.
- This is my Christmas wish this year.
