Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, VISUAL ACOUSTICS celebrates the life and
career of Julius Shulman, the world’s greatest architectural
photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American
mainstream. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of
nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s
including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank
Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern
California’s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to
the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a
testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful
portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with
his unforgettable images.

In the Boston area: Friday, February 26 through March 5, there will be a film about architectural photographer Julius Schulman at the Kendal Cinema. It
looks like a great movie, I hope to see it!

It played one day only at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Very good film. See it if you can.

I just watched this film and am now wondering who else has seen it. I know there are many photographers here who love to shoot architecture and this is a nice little film about some of the modern architects of that era, their work, and how Julius Shulman worked with both the architects and the buildings themselves.

If you can find a copy of it somewhere and love modern architecture it's definitely worth a look.
