Project Basho (http://www.projectbasho.org/) is excited to invite James Nakagawa (http://osamujamesnakagawa.com/), Ginger Owen (http://www.gingerowen.com/), and June Yong Lee (http://www.juneyonglee.com/) to participate in a panel discussion (http://www.projectbasho.org/lectures/#Lecture_Series) on Thursday, March 4 from 4-6pm, during the national conference of the Society for Photographic Education. The event will begin with a presentation of each artists' work before engaging in a moderated discussion. Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for Friends of Project Basho.
Brief Bios:
Osamu James Nakagawa (http://osamujamesnakagawa.com/) is head of the photography department at Indiana University and recently received a Guggenheim Fellowship to pursue a project photographing the historically loaded Gama caves in Okinawa.
Ginger Owen-Murakami (http://www.gingerowen.com/) is an assistant professor of photography Western Michigan University. Owen is a recipient of numerous prizes and uses installation, sculpture, digital, traditional and alternative processes to explore themes of family history, race, gender and culture.
June Yong Lee (http://www.juneyonglee.com/) is a graduate student at Indiana University and is this year's recipient of Jennifer Pearson Yamashiro Award from the Society for Photographic Education.
