Hi Guys,

I've added some more functionality to APUG (still slightly in progress). You'll notice the new items on the main menu bars.

-New Journal/Blog System - a basic journal system (which is what I was after -easy to support). It's also nice that it ties into your APUG personal gallery. There are a few cosmetic glitches but it's fine for now and I'm getting help on a few bits of code. Feel free to start your journal now..

-Chemistry Recipe area, I look forward to this area filling up with interesting recipes

-Regional Focus Groups area- this is still in progress but gives you an idea. I'll be finished with it today and will be taking requests for new regions.

Enjoy!

Thanks Sean,

I did start a journal. However, I noticed when I looked at other peoples journal the "Delete" and "Edit" buttons showed up. I didn't test to see if I could actually do either thought. You may remove these buttons except for the owner of the journal.

Thanks,

Sean

yup working on that. The buttons show up but are not functional unless it's your journal.

I like the upgrades thus far, especially the chemistry recipes. And I'm anxious to see what the member journals are all about... very nice. -Grant

Is the recipes section intended for any we have, or just those we've come up with ourselves? I guess the former, but just want to check.

Thanks for all the good work.

I have a Refried Bean recipe that should only be attempted if you have an industrial ventilation system installed in your darkroom. :o

Thanks for the upgrades Sean, I'm really going to enjoy the journal section. Are we going to be able to comment on other persons entries?

Sean

Thanks Thomas,

The code only had an option for allowing comments to be posted or not allowing them. I decided against them because it might be more overhead for me. I wanted to keep it fairly simple at this stage. If members are really dying for the feature we could activate it. Personally, I would feel more self-conscious with my entries knowing people might comment on them, but that might just be me..

Can those who add to the recipe section, PLEASE put in the developing times and at what temperature you used it. Just one of those little things that is missing for the most part in the formula books out there. They make general suggestions, but no concrete starting point. I know emulsions change etc. But a starting point is nice to work from.

I also have a few of the personal recipes from Mrs. Fields. Hubby use to work for Mr. Debbie Fields. They are guaranteed to give you a sugar buzz enough to agitate the trays without moving your hand.

I think that is a good judgement. There is plenty of room for starting open discussion topics in the forums. Not having comments helps to distinguish the journals from the forums.

this could really be a cool feature. i clicked on "open a journal" to start one but i cant seem to find anything saying "make a new entry" or some such. in fact, if i clicked on "lock your journal' i cant open it again unless i unlock it. is it just me? am i trying this too soon? thanks for all your work on the site! all other sites are losing their magic for me :)

ok, well now it's working. seems like eitiher gremlins are turning the cranks in the background or things are updating slowly. i'll be more patience.

Sean

I've tried three times to post a message to the new journal feature and it is not appearing. Am I doing something wrong or can you please advise a computer illiterate how to get it right.

start a journal, type away, hit the add button and it doesn't save it. Get taken back to the inital screen
