IMHO the most important feature (or lach thereof) is the detachable prism.
Otherwise a great camera.

She looks sweet :) But I agree about the "detachable prism".

At least it looks like Nikon are continuing to invest in R&D for film :)

I have to say the FM3a has more interest for me (followed by the f100).

And their old rangefinders look downright juicy.

The only difference I've found in the way I've used both the F100 and F80 is the F100 is faster with auto-focus and has a nice heavy metal feel. Given the choice again I think I would have stayed with the F80 and not gone out to buy the F100. There again I went out to buy extra film and like a fool held the F100 which resulted in me buying it ;)

does it make better pics than my old Nikkormat FTN? i think not.Very true! My Pentax LX was just as good as the Nikons I've had, the only real benefits are I can take pictures quicker and have the auto-focus when my eyes are failing.

Helen good for you and I bet it you will continue taking wonderful picci's with it till the day it dies ;)

Which will likely be long after the F100 spits out its batteries and drops its lenses.

Would like to say the F100 metering is absolutely outstanding (& it looks like the F6's is even better) and lifts your expectations and ... er ..... relieves your thinking, and weighs a ton. Unfortunately when one has to learn how to really photograph, one can be left up in the air, paddling furiously, without net.

Still, it's good to see Nikon putting some faith in film.

I heard it will come in initially at about $2,600 USD

I asked at my favourite retailer today and was told "available soon" at a price of $2750 CDN

F6??? I still like my F4! My next 35mm SLR will be ... please don't hate me... a digital one. My Hassey will be my film camera of choice. In fact I've invested in more film backs for it.

I thought about, and considered buying a Fuji Finepix S3 ($2400) or replacing my N80 (for a new one), but realized that the N80 (same body, as the S3) took better images and for the difference in price ($2100) I could get a few new LF lenses instead. As it worked out, I paid $750 for a used F5 as a replacement for the N80, and got a NEW Schneider lens.

F6? For what?
The F100 is the ultimate auto everything/manual film camera!
I`ve owned one F5, and got rid of it because of the ridiculous weight just to produce a 35mm "stamp", the F100 fits me perfectly.

I bought one in '73, and still remember the Nikon advert, with a vicar holding a Nikkormat FTn, and the blurb said " What kind of a nut spends £176 on a Nikon?, one who wants Nikon pictures. Great camera Helen , you are a lady of very good taste. Enjoy

I must admit that the pricing of used film bodies is wonderful. I had never owned a Nikon, but picked up a very nice used F4, delivered for under $350. Great camera, a little heavy at times, but very nice. So for the times when I want to go light, once again I found a bargain, an 8008, for $51. Again, in great shape. It has sort of been like Christmas, except it is humid and 98 outside.

I have always been a die-hard OM user, but the Nikon lens selection got the better of me.

The drawback is that I have more backlog in the darkroom than when I was just using the Koni.

Yes I want Nikon because I can't get a Decent zoom for my OM, well not with out spending many many £££.
