Alright sounds awesome!

I'm not sure of the best way to proceed, but I guess we should try and get more people involved, maybe set a time and place to meet? Also, What would you like to get from the group? Mainly discussion, mainly photo-shooting, or a little of both? I'm open to pretty much anything.

I'm excited, I've been interested in joining a group for a while!

I'm in when schedule and being able to get into NYC permits. Once its open for the season, anyone up for a Governors Island photo shoot? If it ever stops raining, I was planning on getting into NYC one day next week - probably around the Village, with a stop at Moore and Varrick.

I'm definitely up for this. I'm a big fan of Governor's Island.

Cool, it sounds like a good number of people are interested! What do you think about planning an event for Saturday June 4th? Since this will be the first time we meet, I wanted to allow plenty of time in advance for planning (and my schedule is a bit busy the next two weekends). I assume the idea is to plan a recurring meeting, maybe on a monthly basis? If it's convenient, we could try to meet the first saturday of every month. What does everyone think?

Any ideas for where we could meet for the first time? Fotoguy20d suggested Governor's Island, which would be open by June 4th. Other suggestions?

I think I can make that date. What formats does everyone shoot? I usually shoot 4x5, 8x10 and d******.

Great, sounds like there will be at least a handful of us!

I did a bit of research on the governor's island website and found that filming and photographing with either a handheld camera or tripod during public hours does not require a permit. Here's the url for more information: http://www.govisland.com/html/host/film.shtml

Sounds like good news to me!

Sounds good. If anyone's interested, I may do some shooting on Governors Island, SI Ferry, and/or lower Manhattan sometime this weekend. I'll probably firm up my plans in the next day or two.

Hey folks,

Sorry for the late update, this past week was pretty busy for me.

The meetup is approaching fast! How about we meet at 12:15 pm this Saturday on governor's island? Let's meet at the corner of Hay Rd and Andes Rd by Castle Williams (Map: http://www.govisland.com/downloads/pdf/map.pdf). It's in the northwest corner of the map.

Anything else I'm forgetting? let me know if you don't like the time or location, it could certainly be changed!

For those who haven't been to governor's island:
There are free ferries going to the island every 30 minutes, so the 12:00 ferry is what you'll want to take, if not an earlier ferry. You can board the ferry from both manhattan and brooklyn. Here's the webpage with all the information about the ferry: http://www.govisland.com/html/visit/directions.shtml
There's food on the island, but I think most of it is fried, greasy food. You can also bring your own if you like. There's a lot of information online as well on the island website.

Looking forward to Saturday!
