If you're talking about film developers, I use Ilford ID-11. My 'standard' film is FP4+, which I develop in ID-11 @ 1:3 for 20 mins @ 20 degrees. This combo gives me the results I want (fine grain, good sharpness, full tonal range) with the minimum of fuss. ID-11 also keeps for ages as a liquid stock under the correct conditions. I can't be bothered with expensive esoteric brews that give little advantage. That said, I have some 10 year old Perceptol to use up
one day... :cool:

I started off with rodinal, used it for
A few years before I really started testing and becoming immersed in developing.

Then I moved into hc110 b for a while an loved the results. But I wanted a replenished developer.

Next was xtol, used it for about 1 year and never really liked it too much.

Then moved to d76 for its classical look and loved it but was not shooting as much so I am back to hc110 b

I included hot (120F) water for developing my carbon prints.
Potassium oxalate for platinum/palladium
Ilford PQ Universal and Dektol for sheet film (and Dektol for silver gelatin paper)
D-76 for roll film, and for sheet film when I do not need the major contrast boost.
Plus odds and ends, such as D-19 for contrast (someday). Technol for Tech Pan

Ilford Perceptol

I use 3. My choices are based on availability. I like using Tetenal Ultrafin and Ultrafin Plus, and Kodak HC-110. Given the state of Kodak, I'm trying to stock up on HC-110, but knowing the Tetenal gives me some good choices.

I shoot TMX, medium format. I use three developers. Which one I use depends on the contrast in the scene.

For high contrast scene--ID-3 (metol only developer, low sulfite)

For medium contrast scene--Rodinal (Adonal)

For low contrast scene--D-19

I use Pyrocat HD for nearly all my sheet and 120 film these days using contant agitation.

At one point in time, i ran into issues with pyrocat and roll film with anomalies at the edges during stand development, and switched to TMAX dev 1:4.... I know how to use it, but have since gone back to pyrocat HD again

And lastly Diafine..... a catch all developer for most of my 35mm film, allowing me to develop non similar films together in the same tank.

HC-110, and Rodinal because i like the tones of both and the acutance of rodinal, but sometimes rodinal is not ideal.

E6 and C41, for obvious reasons

Mostly Rodinal (of which I still have a boatload) and, with some films, HC-110 (of which I didn't stash enough, so Ilfotec HC lately).
