3rd batch - Photographer's Roast
by , 12-23-2010 at 03:38 PM (658 Views)
this afternoon, i had about 40 minutes to burn, well, roast ... before picking the kids up from their last day
of school for the year. i grabbed the tin and hot plate and green beans and roasted a 4 handfuls of coffee.
slow roasted for a lot of it, the first group was small, about 1 handful ... the beans went from green to brownish, to tan.
the oils came and went ... when they got black i poured them out ...
i put the rest of the green beans in the tin and stirred them as they changed color.
some got dark faster, some lingered and were lighter.
smoke billowed.
i coughed.
after 15-20 minutes of stirring and coughing
i turned the heat off, got the mrs and fetched the kids.
a while later i poured all the beans into the hopper and ground them up.
some fine, some turkish, some course some medium ..
into the plastic bag waiting to be used.
i keep wanting to just do a long stand development with no additives ..
no washing soda, no vit c, no ansco 130 ... but for some reason i keep
doing what i know works.
i don't have any black beans to post here, but i'll post some images from the
next film i process ... being a busy time of year, it might be later rather than sooner ..
enjoy your coffee
